Hey guys,
As most of you probably know by now Disqus has stopped providing services to many sites and our site is one of them. Right now,
we are in the middle of developing our independent comment system. As of today(26 March 2025), we are releasing the comment with
Limited features. There are other features still under development and may take some time to roll out.
As always, please continue to support us. You can show your support in the following ways:
"Thank you for waiting! The shop is now open! Since the store is not very spacious, we will be limiting the number of customers inside at any given time. Please follow the staff's instructions. If you need any assistance, feel free to approach any staff member wearing these black uniforms."
And so, the shop has officially opened. Naturally, we can't accommodate dozens of customers at once, so we limited entry to about 15 people at a time. As one customer leaves, another is allowed to enter.
"Everyone, please don't push! Oh, I'm sorry, can you wait here for just a bit?"
I asked Lange to manage the queue and let the customers in one by one at the entrance.
Since it's his first day interacting with customers in the shop, handling this many customers' payments right away would be challenging. I plan to let him handle the register later in the evening when the number of customers has decreased.
As mentioned last week, we're expecting busy days due to the launch of new products, so Lange is also lending a hand.
Over the weekend, Lilia and I taught Lange how to assist customers. While his tone of speech is a bit casual, it suits his bright personality, so I don't think the customers will mind too much.
"If you have any questions while you wait, feel free to ask me! Whether it's about the products in the store or even about adventuring, don't hesitate to ask!"
"Um, about that stick-shaped ramen from earlier..."
"Oh, yes. Well, that's..."
Right, Lange is one of the few B-rank adventurers in this town. Although his name might not be as well-known as Lilia, who worked extensively to support rookie adventurers here, his skills are recognized by the Adventurer's Guild Master, Rizac.
Since customers waiting in line can hear various stories from such a skilled adventurer, their time will likely feel well spent.
Even during regular business days, some customers come to the store specifically to seek advice from Lilia and end up buying something. Opportunities to talk with a rare, high-ranking elf adventurer like Lange are few and far between. And since Lange is quite beautiful, he might even gain popularity among female adventurers. In fact, the female adventurer he's speaking with right now has a bright red face. ...Tch.
"Thank you for waiting. Here's 3 copper coins in change!"
"Your change is 2 silver coins and 1 copper coin. We look forward to seeing you again!"
Inside the shop, I've entrusted the register to Fia and Dolph. Dolph has become quite accustomed to working here. His calculations have become much quicker, and his tone has grown more polite.
"This stick-shaped ramen is ready to eat after boiling it briefly in water and adding the powder included in this small wooden cylinder. You'll need just enough water to cover the noodles, but with this product called a Sierra Cup, you can measure the exact amount of water. It's also convenient since you can place it directly over heat."
"I see. Thank you, Lilia."
Lilia moves around the shop answering customers' questions, restocking items as they run low, and keeping an eye out for any suspicious individuals.
She provides detailed explanations of the new products, suggests alternative items, and offers impeccable customer service. I didn't know what kind of adventurer she was, but I can't help thinking that this customer service job suits her perfectly.
As for me, I keep an eye on the entire store, helping with the register, interacting with customers, and checking on Lange outside. We take turns resting and swapping roles as needed.
"How much is that stick-shaped ramen I sampled earlier?"
"It's 3 silver coins for a set of 5 servings. If you return the wooden cylinder and container for refills next time, it'll be 2 silver coins."
"So next time, it'll be 4 copper coins per serving, right? For that flavor, that's more than worth it, even if the portion size could be a bit larger."
The stick-shaped ramen costs 2 copper coins per serving at outdoor shops. That's about 200 yen, so it's slightly more expensive than it would be in the original world.
Five servings cost 1 silver coin. The wooden container and the small wooden cylinder for the powdered soup together cost another silver coin, leaving 1 silver coin as profit.
"The portion might be a bit small. Adding vegetables or making it a portion for 1.5 servings might be better."
The stick-shaped ramen might not be enough for an average man, especially for adventurers who lead physically demanding lives. One serving might not suffice.
"Got it. How much is that nutritional food you mentioned?"
"This one is a set of 10 pieces for 1 silver coin. The container is sold separately."
The nutritional food costs 1 copper coin for 2 pieces and 5 copper coins for 10 pieces at the wholesale price. Back in the original world, it was around 150 yen for 4 pieces, I think. Here, they're wrapped in an antimicrobial material commonly used in this world rather than wooden containers.
"That's affordable too. One piece might not fill you up, but it's a nice light snack. Plus, it was sweet and tasty. I'll take one set."
"Thank you very much."
Compared to yokan or chocolate bars, it's not as sweet, but it seems to make a good snack here.
This week, we're introducing the stick-shaped ramen, nutritional food, and the Sierra Cup. While there are many other products we can sell now thanks to leveling up, releasing all of them at once would overwhelm both the customers and us.
We'll gradually introduce new products over time.
