“Well, it’s great that we can buy a lot more products now, but deciding which ones to sell in the shop is really difficult.”
The day after the Outdoor Shop reached level 5, I was discussing with Lilia and Mr. Lange on the second floor of the shop about which new products to put on display.
“There are a lot of appealing products. At the very least, I think the pre-packaged food and the sweet treat called mochi will sell well.”
“Sweet snacks will definitely sell, but I also think high-quality tents and sleeping bags, which are better than what’s available in town, will be popular among adventurers. Plus, stackable cookware and cooking tools would be in high demand as well.”
Lilia and Mr. Lange offered their opinions. With so many products available, we had to carefully select which ones to sell.
“We also need to consider the space available for displaying the products. I plan to gradually increase the number of products, but if space becomes an issue, we might need to consider renting a larger store.”
Our current store is about the size of a convenience store from my original world. When we first opened, there were so few products that the shelves looked empty, but as we added more items, they became fully stocked.
Thinking back, it’s hard to believe there was a time when we only had around ten products. Compared to then, not only have the products increased, but so have the people involved in the shop.
“That’s true. Since we’ve been adding more products, the quantity we can display has decreased, and we constantly have to restock from the warehouse.”
“And with the increase in customers, the aisles feel much narrower. Things have gotten so busy that I hardly have any time to talk to girls these days.”
“………………”
Well, putting aside Mr. Lange’s concerns about talking to girls, both he and Lilia made valid points. It might be time to consider relocating to a larger shop.
Fortunately, we’ve gained a lot of regular customers, and now we even supply products to other towns. The sales of maps and encyclopedias have been profitable, so we have a good amount of money.
That being said, my primary goal is still to obtain the Full Potion for Lilia, so I don’t want to spend too much money. Then again, expanding the store and increasing sales might actually help us obtain it faster.
“I’ll look into potential relocation when I have time. For now, I don’t see any products as groundbreaking as the maps or encyclopedias. Ideally, I’d like to purchase and examine each product individually, but we simply don’t have the space for that.”
Unlike the maps and encyclopedias, none of the new products seem to be game-changers for life in this world. However, many of them require hands-on testing to understand their full potential.
Not to mention, some of them are quite large. Purchasing every single item just to inspect them doesn’t seem practical. In fact, I was surprised at some of the things the Outdoor Shop is now selling.
“Also, there doesn’t seem to be anything like the compass or water purifier that could directly improve the survival rate of rookie adventurers. In that case, we should prioritize selling products that would be useful in an adventurer’s daily life while avoiding direct competition with other shops.”
After a quick review, I didn’t find anything that could significantly boost survival rates like the compass or water purifier.
I considered the poison remover—a tool that extracts venom from insect and snake bites—but apparently, there aren’t many venomous creatures around Al-Flare.
Besides, in this world, antidote potions exist, so it probably wouldn’t sell well.
“Yeah, that sounds like a good approach. At the very least, we can finally start selling that outdoor spice.”
“I totally agree! Just sprinkling it on grilled meat, vegetables, or fish makes them taste amazing. If the price isn’t too high, I’m sure everyone will love it.”
“Yeah, it’s about time we start selling the outdoor spice.”
Since returning from the royal capital, I’ve been keeping an eye on the spice market, and as I had heard, prices have significantly dropped. Apparently, magical farming techniques have improved, leading to a stable supply and lower costs.
As a result, not only in the royal capital but even in Al-Flare, spice prices have become more affordable. Given the current situation, selling outdoor spice should now be viable. It’s a product that has been available for purchase at the Outdoor Shop for a long time but never had the chance to be sold properly until now.
For adventurers, it’s an incredibly useful product. Just sprinkling it on grilled meat, vegetables, or fish enhances the flavor much more than simple salt. Since it also contains herbs, it should help improve the taste of that notoriously strong-smelling dried meat as well.
