Hey guys,
As most of you probably know by now Disqus has stopped providing services to many sites and our site is one of them. Right now,
we are in the middle of developing our independent comment system. As of today(26 March 2025), we are releasing the comment with
Limited features. There are other features still under development and may take some time to roll out.
As always, please continue to support us. You can show your support in the following ways:
"First of all, Angel, there were no issues with your customer service. Please keep up the same level of effort."
"Yes, thank you very much!"
"Angel, you were really good! I need to learn from you too!"
"Ah, your choice of words was very polite. I should follow your example as well."
There were absolutely no issues with Angel's customer service. Having worked in customer service for many years, her language and demeanor were excellent—so much so that she served as a role model for everyone. After the rush of customers settled, I even let her handle the cashier, and she managed it without any calculation errors or issues.
"It's impressive that you memorized the locations of the camping gear, food items, and how to explain them to customers all in just one day. I have no special notes of caution for you."
"Thank you very much!"
"Honestly, you don’t seem like it’s only your first day. I’ll need to work harder too."
"That's my Angel! You make me proud as your brother!"
"The problem lies with Dolph!"
"Ugh..."
Yes, there were no issues with Angel. But when it came to Dolph, problems were piling up.
"You're way too preoccupied with Angel. I understand you're worried, but you need to focus on the customers in front of you."
"Ugh..."
"And stop glaring at customers who hit on Angel."
"S-sorry..."
"Well, Tetsuya, it's only his first day. He can focus on improving starting tomorrow."
"Yeah, I made plenty of mistakes on my first day too. As long as you don't repeat the same mistakes, it’s fine."
"Dolph, I’m sure you’ll do great!"
Everyone came to Dolph’s defense. Maybe they thought I was angry because I, who usually don’t speak harshly, had been a bit firm.
As someone in charge of hiring, I need to say what needs to be said.
"Of course, it's all about improving from tomorrow onwards. And I think the rumor that Angel has a boyfriend will spread quickly, so customers hitting on her should decrease soon."
"R-really?"
"Probably."
Unfortunately, this type of information spreads quickly. It's like in school when the most beautiful girl starts dating someone, and the news spreads across the entire campus in no time. Men are creatures who, rather than pursuing girls with boyfriends, quickly move on to find someone new.
"Also, make sure not to show frustration on your face. For example, when I have to deal with difficult customers, I often imagine beating them up in my head while smiling. That might help."
"...I didn’t expect that. Even you imagine doing things like that, Tetsuya."
Looking back, I must have been under quite a bit of stress in my old world. Smiling while dealing with annoying bosses or troublesome clients, I’d imagine punching them in my mind. It was my way of coping. But of course, acting on those thoughts would’ve been a disaster, so be careful!
"It helps clear your mind just a bit. Beating them up is just one example—thinking about something completely unrelated to your work might help too."
"...I see. So, I just need to imagine cutting down everyone who talks to Angel. Got it, I’ll give it a try."
"Yeah… But make sure you never act on it. The important thing is to separate your mental self from the you that's working."
Imagining cutting people down just for talking to Angel… Dolph's feelings for her seem stronger than I expected. I might’ve underestimated it. If his stress level looks like it’s getting dangerous, I’ll need to think of a different solution.
With that, today’s reflection meeting came to an end. Afterward, we all worked on the closing tasks together before heading home. Here’s hoping for gradual improvements.
"Hmm, compared to yesterday, you’re doing much better today. It seems like you’re able to serve customers with a smile."
"Really!?"
The next day, after a lull in customers, I called out to Dolph.
I could tell he was still aware of Angel, but he was clearly trying to focus on the task at hand. Even when a customer hit on Angel, he managed to hold back from glaring at them. Though, I did notice a vein bulging on his temple—he barely managed to keep a smile.
"And try not to immediately look in Angel’s direction when she gets hit on. Instead, just listen carefully. If the conversation seems like it might turn problematic, act then."
"Got it!"
Like yesterday, I worked while keeping an eye on Dolph and Angel, but Dolph noticed things faster than I did every single time. His reactions to anything involving Angel are ridiculously fast... almost like he has a special skill for it.
That said, the signs of improvement are there. If he keeps this up, he should be back to handling customer service as usual in no time. I’m relieved there’s hope for improvement. If there hadn’t been, I’d have seriously had to think about what to do next.
