Update:

Hey guys,
As most of you probably know by now Disqus has stopped providing services to many sites and our site is one of them. Right now, we are in the middle of developing our independent comment system. As of today(26 March 2025), we are releasing the comment with Limited features. There are other features still under development and may take some time to roll out.

As always, please continue to support us. You can show your support in the following ways:

"...Then, we'll proceed with this arrangement."

"Yes, I look forward to working with you."

The contract with the Adventurers' Guild was successfully concluded.

First, regarding the map, once Lange returns and confirms its accuracy, a simplified version of the map will be created by a trusted member of the Adventurers' Guild who can keep secrets. This simplified map will then be sold to rookie adventurers at a low price. After accounting for fees for the commission, materials, and sales expenses, a portion of the profit will go to the Adventurers' Guild, while the majority of the remaining profit will be mine.

That said, since the price is set at just five silver coins to make it affordable for beginner adventurers, the profit margin will only be about one silver coin, if that. The material costs for paper and ink alone amount to three or four silver coins.

Still, having a supplementary income is something to be happy about. Passive income for the win! …I was so thrilled I couldn't help but celebrate internally.

"Regarding the monster compendium, we will begin transcribing it as soon as we find someone suitable for the task. However, it will likely take quite some time."

"Yes, there’s also the plant compendium, so take your time and proceed carefully."

Since there’s no printing technology in this world, everything has to be copied by hand, page by page. Naturally, it’s not a task that can be completed in a day or two. It's a time-consuming endeavor, so I want to ensure that progress is steady without rushing and risking information leaks.

As for the plant compendium, it will be divided into a version for adventurers and another version for broader uses. To prevent information from leaking beyond those transcribing it, Deputy Guildmaster Patrice himself will oversee and verify the information during the process.

If efficiency were prioritized, my information would inevitably be leaked. I feel bad for Patrice, but I’ll trust him to handle this carefully.

"Yes. Our top priority will be to ensure that Tetsuya’s information is not leaked. Additionally, once we’ve transcribed one copy of the map, it can then serve as the base for reproductions."

Exactly. For the map, once the detailed version I created with my ability has been transcribed into a simplified version, it can be mass-produced by hiring people to make additional copies.

Since the simplified map contains no sensitive information, there’s no issue with it. Of course, the origin of this map—created by my ability—is a secret known only to Rizac and Patrice.

"Then I’ll leave it in your capable hands."

The guild also promised to handle anyone snooping around my outdoor shop or meddling with my affairs. I was told to contact the Adventurers' Guild immediately if any adventurers or merchants tried to cause trouble.

When I revealed that I was from another world and explained my ability, they agreed to fully cooperate with me. I am truly grateful for that.

Perhaps it’s also because of my contributions to rookie adventurers so far. Trust is indeed essential.

"Tetsuya, you should give them that, shouldn’t you?"

"Oh, right! I completely forgot about it!"

As we were about to leave after finalizing the contract, Lilia reminded me. I had completely forgotten that I had brought some gifts for Rizac and Patrice.

After all, I’d been so occupied explaining things and signing the contract that quite a bit of time had passed. It’s probably already dark outside.

"These are sweets that I’m planning to sell at my shop soon. They’re a specialty from my homeland. Please try them out."

"Oh! Food from Tetsuya’s world, huh? I’m intrigued!"

"Even the instant soup was from your world, right? I’m really looking forward to this!"

I handed them the same treats I had given to Dolpha and Fia: yokan and chocolate bars.

…This isn’t a bribe. They’re just samples. I only want to hear their feedback on the taste. Really, that’s all. My desire for favorable treatment is, uh, just a tiny ulterior motive.

"Whoa!? What is this!? It’s so sweet!"

"This is incredibly sweet and delicious!"

See? Sweets from my world are amazing, aren’t they?

The response was excellent. Even these two men seemed to enjoy the yokan and chocolate bars. It seems that people in this world really have a craving for sweet things.

"This is incredible! I’ve never tasted anything this sweet before!"

"This one has a unique sweetness. It’s a bit bittersweet yet still sweet… but very delicious!"

"Both of these are packed with calories—energy, essentially—so they’re excellent as action food. Also, this one is particularly well-suited as an emergency ration. The taste is… well, functional."

I handed them block-shaped cookies as well, a type of calorie-dense nutritional food. I believe it provides a balanced intake of the five major nutrients.

Unlike the yokan and chocolate bars, this one has less moisture and should last longer, making it ideal as an emergency ration. As a precaution, I suggested they try eating it a week later to ensure it hasn’t spoiled and doesn’t cause any issues.

Incidentally, this world has no concept of expiration dates. Everything is consumed at one’s own risk.

"…Well, compared to the previous ones, the taste is just okay."

"No, for emergency rations, the taste is excellent. The earlier ones, though, could definitely sell as regular sweets. This one’s only downside might be how dry it makes your mouth feel…"

Indeed, as emergency food, it’s quite exceptional, but that dryness is its one flaw. And since it’s not as sweet as the yokan or chocolate bars, the impact isn’t as strong. It seems I might have handed them out in the wrong order.
