"Next up is the backpack."
The backpack is only available in one type, but it appears to be a waterproof backpack. It seems you can choose between two sizes when purchasing.
"Hm, this backpack uses a material I haven't seen before in this world, but it seems lightweight and sturdy."
"Yeah, the shape is unique, but it doesn’t seem bad."
The design shouldn’t pose any issues in this world. As for the material, I could probably just claim it’s made from some magical creature's materials, and there wouldn’t be any problems selling it.
"This backpack is called a waterproof backpack. It’s made of a material that doesn’t let water pass through, so anything inside won’t get wet."
"Oh, that’s really convenient!"
That being said, Lange can use storage magic, and in this world, there don’t seem to be many things that would be a problem if they got wet. Well, it’s still better to keep things dry, and since it seems reasonably durable, it might sell reasonably well.
"Next are jackets and windbreakers."
These are categorized by size, so there are four types available. Like the waterproof backpack, unfortunately, the colors can’t be chosen, and they’re all black.
Still, it’s a relief they’re not in bright neon colors. In my original world, such colors were common to help with visibility in case of accidents during hiking.
However, in this world, where dangerous creatures like monsters exist, inconspicuous colors are actually more desirable. Ideally, something like green or brown camouflage patterns would be perfect, though.
Outdoor shops have been selling casual wear recently, so I was expecting to eventually see clothing-related items become available for purchase after leveling up.
"This one feels fluffy and warm. It might be really useful in cold places."
The jacket is a bit thick, so it would likely be quite warm in colder areas. However, the temperatures in this world aren’t particularly cold so far, so the demand might not be very high.
"This one’s thinner, isn’t it?"
"This is called a windbreaker. It doesn’t let wind pass through easily and helps retain body heat."
The windbreaker offers excellent wind resistance and insulation, preventing body heat from escaping.
"This thinner one might be more convenient to carry around."
"But wearing it over or under the usual armor might be a bit of a hassle."
"I see your point..."
As Lilia mentioned, adventurers usually wear fairly heavy clothing. They layer their outfits under armor and are always moving around, so jackets or windbreakers might not be all that necessary.
"These might not be in high demand in this town. For now, why don’t you try using it and tell me your thoughts later?"
This time, I purchased sizes tailored to Lange. I’ll have him test them out and decide whether or not to sell them based on his feedback.
"Got it! This one’s nice and light. Plus, it looks different from other clothes and stands out. I think I’ll wear it while I’m in town."
He’s right; since it doesn’t exist in this world, it would probably stand out if worn around town.
"Is that so? Then maybe I’ll make it the shop uniform."
Come to think of it, now that Dolph has joined the team, I was considering creating a uniform for the shop.
Currently, everyone at the shop is dressed in their own clothes. Lilia and Dolph wear light armor since they’re also in charge of security. A black windbreaker wouldn’t be too obstructive and would stand out more than regular clothing, making it a viable option for a uniform.
"What is this 'uniform' you speak of?"
Now that I think about it, uniforms don’t seem to be common in this world. They’re only used in places like the adventurers’ guild, the commerce guild, or other large establishments.
"Oh, in my world, it’s common for employees at the same store to wear the same outfit. It helps customers easily recognize who works there."
"That sounds great! Everyone wearing the same thing sounds fun. It would make me feel more like part of the shop, even when I’m away!"
"Of course, Lange. You’re already a part of the shop. Why don’t you try working as a staff member sometime?"
"Working with everyone sounds like it could be fun!"
"Starting next week, we’ll begin selling the new products. I’ll put out a notice about it this week, so I expect we’ll have a lot of customers next week. It’d really help if you could work with us for a few days, even temporarily."
This week, I’ve spent quite a bit of money leveling up the outdoor shop’s capabilities and purchasing a large number of products. I don’t have much left for buying new items to sell.
On top of that, I need to prepare small wooden containers for the powdered soup from the stick ramen we’ll be selling, and I want to discuss a few things with the adventurers’ guild.
It looks like the actual sales will begin next week. Considering the potential rush of customers, having Lange help for a few days would really be a lifesaver.
"Alright! Since I’m getting so many useful tools this time, I’ll help out at Tetsuya’s shop next week as a thank you."
"Leave the customer service training to me!"
"Yeah, Lilia’s really good at dealing with customers, so I’ll leave that part to her."
Lilia’s been working at this shop for quite some time now. She’s gotten so good at it that she’s capable of teaching newcomers.
The new products that can be purchased are still numerous, but these are the main ones. This week, on top of the usual shop operations, I’ll need to prepare for next week. Let’s work hard again this week!
