Oh Dong-Cheol, flustered, checked his email first.

“What? You said you’d think about it yesterday, but the songs arrived today? Two of them, at that. Where’s your limit?”

He opened the attached files right away. They contained perfectly arranged sheet music. The lyrics were excellent as well.

Manager Kim Hyeong-jin, who was with him, spoke up.

“President, how are the songs?”

“Of course they’re the best.”

“As expected, Dimension is a genius.”

“Even if he’s a genius, does this even make sense?”

“It’s Seo Jung-woo, after all. Does it make sense that he fought fourteen-to-one in a hotel and won? He started barehanded and even took their gun and beat them.”

“That’s true, right? He’s not someone who ever made sense to begin with.”

Oh Dong-Cheol hummed the song as he looked at the sheet music.

Kim Hyeong-jin exclaimed in admiration.

“Wow. Even to my ears, it’s really good.”

Oh Dong-Cheol’s expression stiffened.

“It is good. It’s great, but this…”

Oh Dong-Cheol went to see Seo Jung-woo directly. His expression was serious.

“Detective Seo, about the songs you sent me.”

Seo Jung-woo flinched.

‘Is it an old song he mistook for new? Cheol-woo said it was a new song. This is why taking songs from that side is risky.’

“Uh… is there some misunderstanding or coincidence or something like that?”

“The songs are really good. Really good, but…”

Oh Dong-Cheol spoke cautiously.

“They’re just too different from Lemon Flower’s style.”

Seo Jung-woo relaxed with relief.

‘Ah. I got tense for no reason. I thought it was something serious.’

Feeling laid-back again, Seo Jung-woo leaned back in his chair.

“If you don’t like them, don’t use them.”

“No, I’m not saying I don’t like them. I mean, if these were written for someone else and you just gave them to us, I just want to say you don’t have to rush. You can take your time and write new ones.”

“These songs are for those two.”

Seo Jung-woo unfolded the sheet music that Oh Dong-Cheol brought.

“This song. It fits Yoon Mi-so way better than any song she’s sung before. And…”

He unfolded another sheet.

“If Choi Soo-ah sings this one, she’ll definitely make it big.”

“Of course, I trust your composing skills, Detective Seo. I do. But Lemon Flower is a bit unique. If they sing a song that suits their style, they rise. If it doesn’t suit them, they flop. But this is just way too different from their usual style…”

Seo Jung-woo folded the sheet music.

“Understood. Then let’s end our partnership here.”

Oh Dong-Cheol was startled and quickly grabbed the sheet music.

“No, don’t say something so hurtful. Don’t worry. I’ll convince Lemon Flower no matter what. I’ll make sure they sing these songs.”

“I’m not worried. Once they sing them, they’ll understand.”

They had sung those songs in the other world and made them hits.

Oh Dong-Cheol hesitated. He was reminded that if Seo Jung-woo decided to stop giving him songs, their relationship would end just like that. But he didn’t want it to end. He knew that without Seo Jung-woo’s help, his company would have collapsed by now.

“Detective Seo, would you really not consider quitting and joining our company? As a partner. A partner! We’d split the profits from the company! How about it, Director Seo?”

“I have no intention of quitting the force.”

“Ah. That’s such a shame. You’re amazing as a detective, but you’re honestly incredible in this field too.”

“However.”

There were many things Seo Jung-woo wanted to bring from this world to the other. He wanted to transport the pharmaceutical company’s manufacturing facilities, and he also wanted to gather and take artifacts. But all of that required a lot of money.

When he busted a cultural property smuggler recently, he made 50 million won. Last week, when he took down remnants of an international industrial espionage group, he gained 5 million yen and 50,000 dollars. But 150 million won wasn’t enough to buy a pharmaceutical company. He might be able to buy one artifact with that, but the chance of it being a sacred relic was less than 1%.

The more hit songs he produced, the more income he’d earn. But what he wanted was far more expensive.

Seo Jung-woo pondered.

‘Isn’t there some way?’

It hadn’t even been a full month since he crossed over to this world. There were still things he didn’t understand about how this world worked.

“Things around me are really noisy these days, so once things calm down a bit, I’ll look into how it could work.”

That evening, Oh Dong-Cheol met with Yoon Mi-so and Choi Soo-ah.

“I managed to get your songs from Dimension.”

Both their eyes lit up.

Yoon Mi-so asked in an excited voice,

“Oh my. Really? But how did you get them already? We only talked about it yesterday.”

Choi Soo-ah immediately agreed.

“Of course he had good songs ready ahead of time. He’s giving those to us, right?”

“Our style’s a bit unique, so it would be even better if they matched exactly.”

“He’ll probably give us those next time.”

Oh Dong-Cheol spoke up.

“But there’s a bit of a problem.”

Yoon Mi-so asked,

“Huh? What is it?”

“It seems Dimension sees your musical style differently from others. So…”

He handed them each a sheet of music.

“One song each. They’re really good songs, but they’re quite different from your previous songs. I know you usually rise when the songs match your style and flop when they don’t. But could you trust me just this once?”

Yoon Mi-so took the sheet music.

“We’ll know once we try singing it. Oh my, this one’s a ballad?”

The next day, as soon as Wind Planning’s president Choi Sun-Myung received the report, he screamed.

“What? Those bitches are actually leaving?”

Manager Jo Ki-hyeok bowed his head.

“I’m sorry. I tried every possible way to stop them, but they just won’t listen.”

“Who can’t try stopping them? You should’ve grabbed them! If that didn’t work, you should’ve threatened them!”

“The guys you sent to threaten them before got scared off by ES Entertainment’s bodyguards and ran away.”

“Wasn’t Kang Seo-jun and Kwon Gyeong-cheol there too back then? And even Lee Seon-hwa was watching!”

“Maybe because of how things went down then, they’re not afraid of threats anymore. On top of that, they apparently got songs from Dimension through ES Entertainment.”

“What? Dimension?”

“They were bragging about the songs to the other girls earlier, and their expressions were no joke. Seeing those faces, I knew—no more persuasion or threats will work.”

Choi Sun-Myung ground his teeth.

“Oh Dong-Cheol. So this is how you want to play it? You must have a death wish! What’s going on with the 4cats scandal plan?”

“We’re working on it.”

“Hurry it up, you bastard! There are only a few days left until Lemon Flower’s contract ends!”

Oh Dong-Cheol raised his beer glass with a big smile.

“To Lemon Flower, our new family member!”

He had gathered 4cats and Lemon Flower together and treated them to chicken and beer.

Seo Sora said,

“I can’t believe famous people like you really signed with our president.”

Oh Dong-Cheol protested,

“Sora. I even bought you chicken and this is how you treat me? I used to be more famous, you know!”

Yoon Mi-so laughed.

“No way we decided to do it just because of the president or the small company, right?”

Oh Dong-Cheol sighed.

“The new kids are the same. Not a single one trusts me?”

“Of course we said yes because Dimension-nim gave us a song.”

Seo Sora tilted her head.

‘What? Oppa already gave them a song? Without telling me?’

“He really gave you a song?”

“Yeah. He gave it to us yesterday.”

Yoon Nana asked in surprise,

“D-Did you meet him in person?”

“No. It was through the president.”

“Ah, that makes sense. How’s the song? Is it good?”

Yoon Mi-so’s eyes sparkled.

“It’s really good.”

Choi Soo-ah added,

“The song is great, but the more amazing part is that he taught us what kind of song truly fits us.”

“Right, right. We thought dance songs were our thing because those got popular and ballads flopped. But that wasn’t it. Dimension-nim gave us a heartbreaking love song, saying it would suit us best, and oh my god, seriously.”

“I cried while singing it. It was so good.”

“Me too.”

The twins excitedly boasted.

“Di… Dimension-nim is really good at that kind of stuff.”

“You unnis should start worshiping Dimension-nim too.”

“Wow. Come to think of it, the number of believers increased by 50%!”

“We need a temple!”

Choi Soo-ah nodded vigorously.

“It really feels like we’ve been saved.”

Yoon Mi-so clasped her hands together.

“Dimension-nim must really be a genius. Dong-Cheol oppa, when can we meet him? If we see him in person, does he glow or something?”

Oh Dong-Cheol paused just as he was about to bite into a chicken drumstick.

“Huh? Uh… That is…”

Yoon Nana quickly stepped in.

“Dimension-nim never shows himself to people. He values mystery.”

“Huh? But you guys said on TV that you’ve seen Dimension-nim often.”

“Ah, that, that was…”

“Now that we’ve signed the contract, I hope we get to meet him soon too.”

Choi Soo-ah laughed.

“Mi-so unni seems like she already fell for Dimension-nim before even meeting him.”

“Oh no, not yet.”

Yoon Nana was getting flustered.

‘Does this oppa walk around spraying pheromones or something?’

Suddenly, Lee Seon-hwa came to mind.

‘That demon king is already hard enough. Are we getting a mid-boss too now? That would be seriously bad.’

The next morning, the department head at Wind Planning reported to President Choi Sun-Myung.

“President. I found it!”

“Found what?”

Chief Jo Ki-hyeok lowered his voice.

“The thing you told me to set up—a scandal for 4cats. I found a good source.”

Choi Sun-Myung leaned forward.

“What is it?”

“Take a look at this.”

Jo Ki-hyeok showed a photo on his smartphone. One of the twins was eating chicken with a man.

“And?”

“Someone took this with their phone at a chicken place. The girl is one of the 4cats members. There are barely any chicken restaurants in Korea that don’t serve alcohol, right? This place likely sells alcohol too. And she’s a minor.”

“Did she drink alcohol?”

“Does that even matter? The image quality’s bad, so we can just claim it was alcohol.”

“So, use the angle that a minor drank alcohol?”

“Yes.”

Choi Sun-Myung got angry.

“You idiot. Still haven’t learned your lesson?”

“Huh?”

“What did I say? You can’t go soft on people who’ve already made it. I said don’t go for something weak like this—we need to set up something that can socially ruin them…”

In the middle of his rant, Choi Sun-Myung stopped. He zoomed in on the photo.

“Who’s this guy with his back turned?”

“I can’t tell either, the face isn’t showing…”

“He’s an adult man, right?”

“Seems like it.”

“It’s definitely not Oh Dong-Cheol. Is he someone from ES Entertainment?”

“Only staff they have is Kim Hyeong-jin, and the build doesn’t match at all.”

“Didn’t they have a bodyguard?”

“Seems like they just hired one from a security company for that day. I checked, and ES Entertainment can’t afford a full-time guard.”

“Not their father either?”

“Their father passed away long ago.”

Choi Sun-Myung grinned slyly.

“This is it. We can blow this up. Kim the journalist should be more than enough.”

“Should I go with the underage drinking scandal?”

“There you go again. You’re too soft, that won’t cut it. We need a new scenario.”

“Then…”

“The twins got popular as the cute little sister types, right? Imagine a scandal where those kinds of girls are dating an adult man. Let’s say there’s a ten-year age gap. What do you think happens then?”

“People will go nuts. But if it turns out to be false…”

“We’ll bombard the media before that happens. By the time the truth comes out, their image will be completely wrecked. Any event or CF contracts they had will get canceled for sure. And if they’re charged for breach of contract, a weak company like ES Entertainment will collapse instantly. Then those Lemon Flower bitches are left stranded too.”

“What about Dimension?”

“That’s why we’re using Kim the journalist. Plenty of people give him shady jobs like this. And Dimension has no connections in this industry. If he did, he wouldn’t be working only with ES Entertainment. How could someone like that know how this business works? Oh, and listen—you must keep this secret. If it leaks, you’re dead.”

“You know how tight-lipped I am.”

That afternoon, an article came out claiming that one of the 4cats twins drank alcohol at a bar and was even dating an adult man. A photo was included.

Detective Baek Sung-min saw the article online and exploded in anger.

“What bastard made one of our twins drink! Who the hell is this punk! I’ll track him down and throw him in jail!”

Seo Jung-woo, wondering what was going on, looked at the article Baek Sung-min was reading.

“Ah, this.”

“Yeah. This bastard with only his back showing! I’ll definitely throw this guy—”

“That’s me.”

“Huh? What?”

Baek Sung-min’s eyes wavered.

“Wait, Jung-woo. The twins are high school seniors, so they’re minors… how could you be dating them…”

“As if I’d ever do that with them.”

Baek Sung-min’s face lit up.

“Right? I knew it. I never believed for a second that you were some pervert.”

“Doesn’t sound like you believed me.”

“I did! I believe in you! But you don’t believe in me, and that really hurts my feelings.”

“Who’s the one who should be hurt right now? Anyway, why did you even believe an article like this?”

“Look at this part here. How could I not believe it?”
