Hey guys,
As most of you probably know by now Disqus has stopped providing services to many sites and our site is one of them. Right now,
we are in the middle of developing our independent comment system. As of today(26 March 2025), we are releasing the comment with
Limited features. There are other features still under development and may take some time to roll out.
As always, please continue to support us. You can show your support in the following ways:
"Ohh~ this is a fine weapon."
"It’s a shape I’ve never seen before. It’s not straight—its blade curves."
In front of us is a row of displayed Japanese swords. We've moved a bit from Akihabara and come to the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno.
This Tokyo National Museum is the oldest museum in Japan and exhibits many National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties.
Taking the female members of Lilith’s group to a museum might seem a little odd, but this is a place where they can learn a lot about this world.
"This is a Japanese sword—it's a historically significant weapon in this country. It's a weapon that combines not only sharpness but also beauty."
Starting with Jomon-period pottery and other ancient artworks, I explain the history of Japan to everyone as we look around.
The area where everyone reacted the most was the section with Japanese swords and armor.
"Now that I look closely, this blade has unique patterns and is quite beautiful."
"That’s called the 'hamon'—one of the distinctive features of a Japanese sword."
"This one looks heavy, but it seems really sturdy, nya!"
"This armor is also unique to Japan. Hmm, let’s see… Including the helmet, it seems to weigh about 20 to 30 kilograms."
It’s amazing how people back then fought while wearing such heavy armor. A Japanese sword also weighs about 5 kg, so unless they were physically trained, they probably couldn’t move properly.
We also viewed other ancient artworks and paintings. It seems that everyone was most interested in the Edo period rather than more ancient times.
"It’s huge, nya!"
"This is incredible!"
Right in front of us is a giant full-body dinosaur fossil on display. After going through the National Museum, we moved next door to the National Museum of Nature and Science.
As soon as we entered, we were greeted by this giant full-body dinosaur fossil. I remember being really excited myself when I came here on a school trip as a kid.
Ueno has tons of tourist spots: Tokyo National Museum, National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, National Museum of Western Art, and Ueno Zoo, just to name a few. If you really tried to see everything in the National Museum alone, it would take a long time.
"Masayoshi-nii, I thought there weren’t any monsters in this world?"
"This isn’t a monster—it’s called a dinosaur. Apparently, about 100 million years ago in this world, humans didn’t exist yet and creatures like this ruled the Earth."
"...Masayoshi-sama, did you just say—100 million years ago?"
"Yep. In this world, research has progressed a lot, and by digging up bones of creatures that lived long ago, we can figure out about how far back in time they lived."
"A hundred million years… Well, I guess nothing is surprising in this world anymore…"
When I think about it again, it really is incredible. That dinosaur bones from 100 million years ago can be discovered and reconstructed to show how they looked and when they lived.
Come to think of it, Lilith’s reaction is just like mine when I first saw magic and magical tools in their world. The cultural shock between our worlds really is something.
"This place is really different from the one before."
"Yeah, there’s a ton of those ‘machines’ Masayoshi talked about."
"This area exhibits stuff about space and satellites. Space means the area even higher than the sky. In this world, people can now ride vehicles and go beyond the sky. Well, only a few people can actually go there, though."
"Be-Beyond the sky!? So it’s like flight magic exists in this world too?"
"No, there’s no magic in this world. I don’t really understand it fully myself, but it seems they burn fuel all at once to generate thrust and go up."
There’s a diagram here explaining how rockets work to launch satellites, but even as someone from this world, I find it too complicated to understand.
Apparently, rocket engines work using something called fuel and propellant, and the fuel can be solid or liquid.
"Even now, quite a few of these satellites are flying in space, observing this planet Earth."
"O-Oh. I don’t really get it, but I can tell it’s insanely amazing."
"So they're watching us from the sky, nya?"
Who knows. At this point in time, satellites might even be able to track individuals. The technology is incredible, considering they’re hundreds of kilometers away from the ground.
"Whoa, what is this place!?"
"Lilith-san, keep it down. There are other visitors."
The National Museum of Nature and Science has a place underground called Theater 36◯. The inside of a dome is used as a full 360-degree screen, where you can enjoy visuals from a bridge suspended in the middle.
From the bridge, guests can enjoy overwhelming visuals of space, the deep sea, and ancient Japan. By the way, the ‘0’ in the name isn’t a zero but a circle.
"This is amazing—like that 'TV' thing in Masayoshi-nii’s house."
"Exactly. It's basically a very large version of a television."
When Lilith and the others first came to this world, I had them watch TV, and as expected, they were very surprised. That’s the real reaction of someone seeing television for the first time.
Even though they can’t understand the language here, the visuals alone are more than enough to entertain.
We continued to explore the rest of the National Museum of Nature and Science. I'm glad to see that everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.
"T-T-Too high, nya…"
"M-My legs are going numb…"
"I-I can't believe other people are walking around so casually."
"I-It's not that scary or anything!"
"Hahaha…"
And now, having left Ueno, we’ve come to what Tokyo is famous for—Tokyo Skytree.
There’s no way anyone here has ever been this high up before. When I asked them beforehand if they’d be okay going up to a really high place, they all said it’d be fine, but actually being up here for the first time is probably overwhelming and enough to make your legs freeze.
If it were my first time up this high, I probably wouldn’t be able to go near the glass either.
"The weather is nice today, so the view is very clear."
"...But man, Masayoshi, your world really is just buildings everywhere. Thinking each of those things is a massive building up close… it just doesn’t feel real."
"Yeah, I was amazed at how huge everything is. It really makes me feel we’re in a different world."
"Tokyo is full of tall buildings. When I first came here too, I couldn’t relax."
This many skyscrapers really gives it that big-city feel. Even near my home, there aren’t buildings this tall, not even near the station—and there’s barely any people either.
"Onii-chan… let’s go down already, nya…"
"Yeah, we’ve done the full round. Let’s head down now."
Looks like Nena-san is afraid of heights. It really was too tall. Next time I bring someone from the other world, I should guide them to a not-so-tall building.
"Mmm, all of this is delicious!"
"Everything is super tasty, nya!"
As evening arrives, we come to an all-you-can-eat restaurant. This place offers sushi, tempura, grilled meat, and desserts—all you can eat.
Here, you can enjoy all kinds of food, and even choose whatever desserts you want. Honestly, I’d love to let them enjoy all-you-can-drink alcohol too, but of course they don’t have any ID, so I had to explain and ask them to refrain.
"Amazing—this is as good as Masayoshi-nii’s cooking."
"The ramen we had at lunch was good too, but the food here is also really delicious! And there are so many kinds of dishes!"
"This world really has so many different kinds of food."
Even without alcohol, it seems like everyone’s having a good time. …That said, they're really going at it. I had Mamoru-san exchange the other world’s gems and gold coins, so we’ve got plenty of money, but I’m glad I chose a buffet-style place.
Everyone except Nena-san eats a lot... If we’re not careful, just three of them could eat more than the restaurant can profit from.
They continued enjoying all the buffet offerings and even indulged in the desserts. I really didn’t think they’d still be able to eat that much dessert after everything else…
"Thanks for today, Masayoshi. I had a ton of fun!"
"Masayoshi-sama, I had a wonderful time!"
"It’s been a while since I had this much fun!"
"It was super fun, nya!"
"I’m glad everyone enjoyed it."
It seems that today's Tokyo sightseeing tour was satisfying to them. If there's another opportunity, I’ll guide them around this world again.
...Next week, I promised to guide everyone from this world to the other one. Looks like my weekends will be pretty busy for a while.
