After buying clothes for Sara-san, we took the train to our next destination. As expected, Sara-san was amazed by the vehicles of this world, like cars and trains, as well as the tall buildings and large structures.
Teaching her how to buy tickets and pass through the automatic gates felt strangely refreshing. We transferred between trains as we headed toward our destination. Of course, we could have used teleportation magic and arrived in an instant, but a date includes the travel too. …Well, since this is my first date, I just followed advice from the internet.
“Wow, what a large facility! Masayoshi-sama, what kind of place is this?”
“This is a place called a zoo, a facility where animals from this world are gathered.”
After the clothing store, we came to the zoo. I had a hard time deciding where to take Sara-san on our date, but I figured a zoo or an aquarium in this world would be good options, since she'd get to see cute animals she's never encountered before. That should be a safe bet.
Other candidates included an amusement park or a shopping mall. A movie theater was ruled out since Sara-san doesn’t understand the language of this world yet.
By the way, Sara-san is currently studying the language of this world. Since we decided together that she would renounce her right to the throne, she has drastically reduced her noble studies and is now focusing on learning Japanese. While I'm at school, she uses old elementary school workbooks and similar materials I gave her.
Sara-san is quick-witted, so she’ll probably be speaking this world’s language fluently in no time. I'm really happy she's making the effort to learn it.
“Masayoshi-sama, what is this long-necked animal called!?”
“That’s called a giraffe. It’s said that its neck evolved to be long so it could eat leaves from tall trees.”
“Masayoshi-sama, what is this animal with the long nose called?”
“That one’s called an elephant. Like the giraffe, it’s said to have evolved that long nose to reach food high up in trees, or to bring water from the ground to its mouth without moving much.”
She seems to be enjoying the zoo more than I expected. Sara-san normally gives off a mature vibe, but right now she looks like she's having fun, just like someone her age should.
“That was so much fun! This world is full of fascinating animals!”
“From my perspective, the creatures in your world are far more mysterious. Slimes are weird enough, and the mutated species are seriously outrageous.”
When I think about it, the ecology of monsters is filled with mysteries. They split in two, grow into mountain-sized natural disasters... it’s completely nonsensical. Ah—but maybe the largest whales in this world could compare in length.
“It’s almost lunchtime. Shall we take a break?”
“Yes!”
We arrived at a restaurant inside the zoo. Since it's the weekend, we had to wait in line a bit before entering.
“Oh my, how adorable!”
They serve food designed to look like animals—panda buns, lion curry, and bear pizzas. It might seem a bit childish, but if it makes Sara-san happy, then it’s all good.
“It’s really delicious! The food in this world is always so tasty!”
“People in this country are especially particular about food.”
Even food that’s shaped like animals tastes great. It’s not just about appearance—the flavor is solid too.
After lunch, we continued enjoying the zoo and eventually arrived at the petting area.
“Oh my, how adorable!”
“Here you can feed and hold rabbits and guinea pigs. They're gentle animals, so you can safely pet them by hand.”
This takes me back—back in elementary school, I remember getting super excited about field trips to the zoo.
“Masayoshi-sama! This one is so fluffy and adorable!”
“…Yes, very adorable.”
Of course, I’m talking about Sara-san’s smiling face as she holds the fluffy guinea pig. You know those deliberately cute photos of girls hugging cats? This isn’t even comparable—it’s way cuter!
Can you believe it? She’s my fiancée. I quickly snapped a photo on my phone—this image is going into permanent storage. Maybe I should even set it as my wallpaper!
…Yeah, I guess I’ve got a full-on flower garden blooming in my head right now. If someone called us a hopelessly lovey-dovey couple, I’d have to admit they’re right. Just a short while ago, I was one of those people yelling “down with the happy couples!” But once you actually get a girlfriend, it’s only natural to get carried away!
“Wow, it’s so tall!”
“It’s the tallest building around here.”
After enjoying the zoo, we came to the observation deck of the tallest tower in the area. Ideally, I wanted to have dinner at a fancy restaurant before coming up here to see the beautiful night view, but a high schooler like me and a girl who looks like a middle schooler walking into a fancy restaurant together would probably raise a lot of eyebrows, so I gave up on that idea.
In any case, we have to be home by nightfall, so we’ll wrap up today’s date with this twilight view.
“I’ve never seen such a beautiful view before! Masayoshi-sama, your world is truly wonderful!”
The sparkling lights of the city at night are lovely, but this dreamy twilight scenery is pretty great too.
“I never thought I’d be able to see this view with you here in this world, Sara-san.”
“…Masayoshi-sama, I had a really great time today. Everything I saw was new to me, lunch was delicious, and I’m so happy that you thought so much about me!”
I’m glad all my effort into planning this date paid off. Seeing Sara-san’s cute smile makes me completely satisfied too.
“I’m really happy you enjoyed it, Sara-san! Let’s go on another date again soon!”
“Yes, gladly!”
