“Kaahhh~! This chilled ale really hits the spot!”

“Yeah, this ale that the Guild Master brought is seriously delicious. And this liquor that Mr. Gregor recommended is really good too!”

“Hmph, hearing that makes bringing it all worth it. And I must say, this roast beef pairs wonderfully with the wine!”

As the barbecue progressed, the group naturally split into a drinking circle, enjoying smoked dishes and roast beef alongside their drinks.

“It’s really tasty. You don’t come across alcohol this good easily in this town.”

“Indeed, and the food is so good that I keep reaching for another drink without realizing it!”

Drinking together were Guild Master Rizac, Mr. Lange, blacksmith Gregor, Dolph, Ms. Berna, and myself—six in total.

We chilled the tasty drinks Rizac brought with Lange’s ice magic, and using the ingredients Ms. Berna and Ferry brought, I prepared food to pair with them. Yeah, honestly, this food and drink we enjoy during barbecues might be the best of all.

“Still, King Boar meat is amazing. It’s got this wild, robust flavor that’s quite different from dragon meat, and it goes really well with both ale and wine.”

“Fufu, I’m glad you like it. There’s still a mountain of meat left, so don’t hesitate to ask for more.”

This time again, Ms. Berna and Ferry generously provided us with meat. While the white marbling wasn’t as rich as the dragon meat we got before, the King Boar meat had a chewy texture, and every bite released a flood of wild, flavorful juices.

Rather than slicing it thin for the barbecue, grilling it with some thickness and topping it with outdoor spices or sauce made it especially delicious.

By the way, the King Boar is a monster that’s much larger than the typical Wild Boar, just as the name suggests. Ferry showed me the huge hunk of meat from her storage magic—it was clear just how massive the creature was.

“This really goes down well with booze! There aren’t any King Boars in this area, so they’re a pain to get unless you go out of your way.”

“A-As expected of Ferry and the Guild Master. A King Boar is still a bit out of my league.”

“I wouldn’t want to fight one head-on either. I’ve got the agility advantage, but with that huge body, it’d take me ages to bring it down with my attack power. I’d have to slash at it so many times that I’d never get meat in such good condition.”

Apparently, even for Dolph and Lange, a King Boar is a bit too much to handle. Judging by the conversation, it’s probably a monster ranked between B and A class adventurer level.

...Yeah, I couldn’t even beat a Wild Boar, so I’d be toast instantly.

To think that we get to eat such high-quality ingredients right here in Al-Flare, the beginner town... I really have to thank Ms. Berna and Ferry.

“Tetsuya-nii, um, you see...”

“Tetsuya, I want dessert soon.”

“Ah, you're right. It’s about that time. Got it.”

As I was enjoying the drinks, Fia-chan was hesitantly trying to speak to me, but Ferry cut in directly. She doesn’t have to be so reserved, really.

It is a good time to prepare dessert. At barbecues, it’s easy to go overboard with the food, so it’s better to serve dessert while people still have room in their stomachs.

“Lange, is it okay if I ask you to help?”

“Yup! We’re making that thing, right? Leave it to me!”

“That thing?”

“Ferry-oneechan is going to be so surprised!”

In preparation for today, I had already asked Lange to help me make a new dessert. The staff at our shop had already done a test tasting, but for Ferry and the others, this would be their first time.

“Whoa, what is this!? It’s cold and super delicious!”

“Yeah, it’s cold and sweet, and it melts in your mouth!”

“I’ve never eaten anything like this before!”

Nicole, Fal, Roya and the others were eating the dessert I made for this occasion with surprised and delighted expressions.

“Waa~ so good! Tetsuya-nii, what is this dessert called?”

“It’s a dessert called ice cream, Albera.”

Using Lange’s ice magic, we chilled a mix of milk, egg, and sugar to make milk ice cream. We also made chocolate ice cream by mixing in chopped chocolate bars, and strawberry ice cream by adding chopped strawberries.

“...It’s sweet and cold, and so delicious!”

“It’s much softer than shaved ice!”

“Yeah, chilled jelly drinks are nice too, but this ice cream is even colder and more delicious.”

Ferry, Berna, and Lilia were happily eating their ice creams. I figured these three, with their love for sweets, would enjoy this.

According to what Lilia and Lange told me beforehand, it seems that ice cream doesn’t exist even in other towns yet. I guess that makes sense—there aren’t many people who can use ice magic in this world.

Regular desserts are nice, but when it comes to barbecues, I somehow always want to make something a little different from the usual.
