Outdoor Shop in Another World: Opening in the Adventurers' Starting Town!-Chapter 191

The Crystallization of Technology

Eastern Word Smith/Outdoor Shop in Another World: Opening in the Adventurers' Starting Town!/Chapter 191
Update:

Hey guys,
As most of you probably know by now Disqus has stopped providing services to many sites and our site is one of them. Right now, we are in the middle of developing our independent comment system. As of today(26 March 2025), we are releasing the comment with Limited features. There are other features still under development and may take some time to roll out.

As always, please continue to support us. You can show your support in the following ways:

“If you ever need any materials, just let the Adventurers' Guild know anytime. I’ll immediately put out a request for the adventurers to go and get it! If it’s something hard to obtain, I’ll go myself!”

“Guild Master, you have other duties to attend to…”

The Guild Master of the Adventurers' Guild, Mr. Rizac, said this confidently, but was promptly scolded by Mr. Patrice.

“But don't worry. If it’s a difficult material for the adventurers in this town or something only available in distant areas, we can always request cooperation from the Adventurers' Guilds in other towns.”

“Yes, I’m really counting on you.”

This new development of camp gear is going to be a joint project with the Adventurers' Guild. Developing it solely through our store isn’t a bad idea either, but either way, we’ll need the cooperation of the Guild to secure the necessary materials.

Besides, involving the Adventurers' Guild means that, not just in Al-Flare, but in many towns, we’ll be able to distribute our products. A portion of the profits will go to the Guild, but in the end, the returns should be bigger that way.

Yeah, since the shop is expanding, I need to start seriously thinking about revenue going forward.

“Hmmm, even the metal parts of these tables and chairs have interesting structures. I see, moving them like this lets them fold up nicely.”

“Right? It’s pretty neat. Ah, I’ll also leave behind some other types of tents, tables, and chairs that might serve as references.”

I brought out and assembled other camp gear that I had asked Mr. Rizac to help carry. Each piece only weighed 1 to 2 kilograms, but with this many, it got pretty heavy. I couldn’t carry them all by myself...

I know Lilia is stronger than me, but as a man, I stubbornly wanted to carry them myself. Well, I did get help from Mr. Rizac halfway through though.

“It’s pretty amazing how compact these get.”

“The mechanism here is interesting, isn’t it?”

“This one’s super convenient too. If I’d had tools like this when I was still active, it would’ve made things a lot easier.”

These days, even tables and chairs have completely different mechanisms. They're the crystallization of the outdoor gear manufacturers from the original world, so even non-craftsmen like Mr. Rizac, Mr. Patrice, and Lilia are fascinated.

Lilia used to be an adventurer too, so even as a woman, she probably enjoys this kind of stuff. Of course, I love checking out the latest camp gear at the shop too.

And so, we officially asked Mr. Gregor to craft the camp gear.

Even in my original world, it took time to develop new products. I should be patient and wait.

“Mr. Braimon, Ms. Madret, are you home?”

“Oh my, Mr. Tetsuya and Ms. Lilia. Come in, please. Dear—Tetsuya and Lilia are here.”

“Yeah, I’m coming!”

“Excuse us, then.”

“Pardon our intrusion.”

A few days after we asked Mr. Gregor at the blacksmith’s to develop the camp gear, Lilia and I visited Mr. Braimon and Ms. Madret’s house, our neighbors beside the outdoor shop, after closing up for the day.

They’re a couple probably in their 60s, and they’ve had their shop here even before we opened our outdoor store next door.

“Sorry it's the usual, but here’s some youkan and mochi.”

“Thanks, as always. We’ve got some pickles we made at home—take some with you before you go.”

“No, thank you. Your vegetable pickles are really delicious.”

“Ah, yes. They go especially well with white rice—I end up eating more than usual every time.”

We have a good relationship with our neighbors and they sometimes share pickles with us. Those pickles go great with Alpha Rice's white rice.

I also bring them some youkan or chocolate bars as thanks, which they really appreciate. I even shared a bit of the smoked Red Basilisk meat I got when I returned from the royal capital.

Daily interactions with neighbors like this are important. Especially since our shop draws quite a few customers who line up, we might be causing trouble to the neighbors on either side. Of course, I try to be very mindful of that, but some newbie adventurers still litter around the area...

“I’m glad you liked it. Thank you for always giving us such delicious treats and souvenirs. My husband absolutely loves youkan.”

“Yes, we’re always happy to have your patronage.”

Mr. Braimon seems to have really taken a liking to youkan and sometimes comes to the store to buy some.

“Ah, the oshiruko you taught us about the other day was really good too. I never imagined warming and melting youkan would make something taste like that.”

“I’m glad you enjoyed the oshiruko as well. Actually, we’re here today because we have a favor to ask the two of you.”

Yes, the truth is, this couple runs a real estate business. We came to consult with them about a new location for our outdoor shop.
