“Phew~ I’m so nervous…”
“Masayoshi-sama, sorry to keep you waiting. Um, how do I look?”
“…Yeah, Sara-san, you look great!”
Right now, Sara-san is wearing a cardigan and a long skirt, with an outer coat and a scarf on top—completely dressed in this world’s fashion. Her long half-elf ears are hidden under a slightly oversized knit hat.
The reason I’m so nervous is that today is my first date with Sara-san in this world.
Thanks to Ande, the door connecting to the other world was restored, and it’s been a week since I reunited with Sara-san and Ande on the school rooftop. A lot has happened since then.
First, we had to wake up Abe and Watanabe, whom I had put to sleep with magic, and give them a very brief explanation. Even though I suddenly started talking about another world, they surprisingly managed to grasp the situation fairly quickly. Well, that was probably because Ande demonstrated magic right in front of them.
…When someone shows you floating balls of fire and water right before your eyes, you can’t help but believe in the existence of magic, at least to some extent. I promised to explain things in detail another time and left them for the day.
Then, we began preparing for me to inherit the Grand Mage’s power from Ande. Fortunately, since it was Friday and I had no school the next day, I called my mom and told her I’d be staying over at a friend’s place.
With Ande’s teleportation magic, we instantly returned to my room. Just like before, a black surface—the door to the other world—had formed on my ceiling. Excited to return to the other world after so long, I stepped through the door and arrived at the Grand Mage’s house.
According to Sara-san, Ande’s teleportation magic had basically made her escape from the mansion. So, Ande used teleportation magic again to send her back home first. Afterward, at the Grand Mage’s house, I underwent the inheritance ritual and received the Grand Mage’s power. That hellish pain… I never want to experience it again.
Just like last time, I drifted between consciousness and unconsciousness while enduring the pain. It was so intense that I felt like I might go insane, but somehow, I survived the half-day ordeal. Thinking back, I can’t believe I endured that level of pain without any mental preparation when I first inherited the Grand Mage’s power.
That said, in the end, I successfully regained the Grand Mage’s power. Both Ande and I checked, and it was confirmed—I had returned to the state before I transferred all my power to Ande.
Even though I had no use for it, I also inherited the magic to connect the door to the other world. Personally, I would have preferred for Ande to keep it, in case something happened to the door again. Worst case scenario, we’d have to use the inheritance magic once more. That would mean enduring that horrific pain all over again… for both of us.
The day after successfully inheriting the Grand Mage’s power, I informed Lilith-san, Gildart-san, and the others that I had regained my abilities and could now return to the other world. It had been a while since I last saw them, and Lilith-san practically tackled me with a hug. The glares I got from all the male adventurers in the guild… That was seriously terrifying.
Later, I met with Sara-san to discuss our future. I proposed to her, and we decided to get married. However, in this world, you can’t legally marry until you turn eighteen. More importantly, she doesn’t even have a legal identity here, so marriage is out of the question in the eyes of the law.
In any case, I wanted to finish high school, so we agreed to remain engaged for the next year and a few months until I graduate. Sara-san also needed some time to formally renounce her right to the throne. There was no way I was going to marry Sara-san and end up becoming a king in the other world.
And so, on this rare day off, I’m having my first date with Sara-san in this world. First order of business—getting her some proper clothes. That’s why we’re at a clothing store.
She’s wearing an outfit that wouldn’t seem out of place in this world, with her ears hidden under a knit hat as we walk through the streets. Naturally, I, who have never dated anyone before, have no clue what kinds of stores women shop at for clothes. So, I played it safe and brought her to a popular chain store.
…Sorry, Sara-san. Next time, I’ll do my homework. I thought about asking Kawabata-san for advice, but there’s no way I could ask a girl I once turned down. At first, things were awkward between us, but now we can talk normally.
“Masayoshi-sama, sorry to keep you waiting. Um, how do I look?”
“…Yeah, Sara-san, you look really good!”
She’s now wearing a cardigan and a long skirt, with an outer coat and a scarf—fully dressed in this world’s fashion. Her long half-elf ears are well-hidden under a large knit hat.
“Thank you! The clothes in Masayoshi-sama’s world are so light and thin, yet they’re warm. The fabric feels nice on my skin, and the designs are all so beautiful.”
Even though she’s a half-elf, as long as her ears are hidden, she just looks like a stunning foreign woman. But still, she really suits the clothes in this world. Seeing her in something other than her usual dress is refreshing.
“…Somehow, seeing you dressed like this makes you feel even closer to me, Sara-san.”
“R-Really!? That makes me so happy! Masayoshi-sama, you look really wonderful as well.”
“Hearing that from you makes me happy too!”
I had put in some effort to dress nicely for today. It’s my first time going on a date in this world, and I’m incredibly nervous. But the date is only just beginning!
