Hey guys,
As most of you probably know by now Disqus has stopped providing services to many sites and our site is one of them. Right now,
we are in the middle of developing our independent comment system. As of today(26 March 2025), we are releasing the comment with
Limited features. There are other features still under development and may take some time to roll out.
As always, please continue to support us. You can show your support in the following ways:
The portable refrigerator likely needs no explanation—it's a piece of camping gear that functions as a transportable fridge. Moreover, since it’s designed for outdoor use, it has rapid-freezing capabilities, allowing for quickly chilling drinks and other items.
The power supply options include household electrical outlets, car cigarette lighter sockets, and portable outdoor power sources. Additionally, it has a small built-in battery that can be charged for limited usage.
The portable generator, as the name suggests, is a camping gear generator. It has two power generation methods: gasoline and cassette gas canisters. While gasoline is more cost-effective, this world naturally lacks gasoline, making cassette canisters the only option. Fortunately, cassette canisters have been available for quite some time.
As for used canisters, I’m currently consulting with the blacksmith, Mr. Gregor, to see if they can be repurposed. Since cassette canisters are primarily made of steel—essentially iron—they should be meltable and reusable. A new cassette canister costs five copper coins, but oddly enough, used gas canisters sell for an even higher price.
Mr. Gregor has already helped with developing storage packs, and there are many more things I’d like to discuss with him regarding camping gear. Depending on our future discussions, I might even reveal the secret of my outdoor shop's abilities to everyone.
Thanks to the portable generator, we can now use electricity in this world. Additionally, as the outdoor shop leveled up, solar panels became available, making it much more convenient to use electric-powered camping gear in the future.
"Still, this refrigerator is truly remarkable. To think that you can cool things without using ice magic..."
"You're right, brother. Mr. Tetsuya, this isn't a magic tool, is it?"
"Yeah, Angel, you're correct. This isn’t a magic tool—it runs on a different power source called electricity. Well... since it derives energy from sunlight and gas, I suppose it's somewhat similar to magic."
Since I don’t fully understand how solar charging and power generation work, I can’t explain it in detail. They can just think of it as something akin to magic tools that use mana.
"That being said, energy consumption is inevitable, so just think of it as something to use occasionally rather than all the time."
This refrigerator consumes quite a bit of power. The generator requires a significant number of cassette canisters to charge it, so keeping it running constantly isn’t feasible. It’s more of a luxury for occasional cold drinks or chilled food.
Still, being able to enjoy cold liquor or juice even when Lange isn’t around to use ice magic is a huge benefit. Now I can finally enjoy some properly chilled drinks.
"Naturally, I have no plans to sell any electric-powered products. Consider it a special privilege for employees."
For now, I don’t intend to sell camping gear that runs on electricity. In a world where magic is the norm, suddenly introducing electricity as a new energy source would likely cause mass confusion.
If that happened, even the Adventurer’s Guild or A-rank adventurers like Ms. Berna and Ms. Ferry might not be able to protect us. I’d rather avoid unnecessary trouble. We’ll just quietly enjoy these conveniences among ourselves.
"That said, work has become a lot easier now that we don’t have to do the washing up."
"Lately, washing dishes has been the most tiring task after closing."
As Angel pointed out, we’ve been fortunate to have repeat customers buying reusable products like instant soup, stick ramen, alpha rice, and insect repellent gel. As a result, the number of dishes to wash daily had become quite substantial—well, except for the insect repellent gel.
Washing up had taken up a large portion of our closing duties. However, since we arranged for the inn to handle our washing, we’re now free from that task. Thanks to that, we can finish closing earlier and even relax with some tea.
"Starting next week, we’ll be launching new products, so things will get busy again. I’m counting on you all."
"Yes!"
"Of course."
"Yeah, leave it to me."
"You can count on me, Tetsuya!"
Since we also entrusted the washing of storage packs and wooden containers to the inn’s staff, we’ll finally be able to start selling outdoor spices, curry, and yokan next week. It’s obvious work is about to get hectic again.
Luckily, Lange will be around next week, so we’ll have six people handling customer service. But with such popular products, it’s bound to get busy.
By the way, I gave the employees some mochi, salted candy, and tablets to enjoy at home. These are all portable foods that became available for purchase when the outdoor shop reached level five, but they’re just as enjoyable for everyday snacking.
Salted candy and tablets would definitely be popular among adventurers as well, but we simply don’t have the space to stock them. I suppose it’s time to start considering a new store location.
