Update:

Hey guys,
As most of you probably know by now Disqus has stopped providing services to many sites and our site is one of them. Right now, we are in the middle of developing our independent comment system. As of today(26 March 2025), we are releasing the comment with Limited features. There are other features still under development and may take some time to roll out.

As always, please continue to support us. You can show your support in the following ways:

“So, what is it you wanted to talk about?”

“Yes. Actually, we’ve decided to start selling that outdoor spice at our store.”

“Oh, that’s great! Now we can use outdoor spice in the shop’s dishes too!”

Since this shop had helped us out in many ways, I had secretly given them some outdoor spice. However, that was strictly for personal use, and I had asked them not to use it in their dishes for sale.

Up until now, spices were considered a luxury, and if outdoor spice was used in the dishes here, people might start investigating its origins. That was a concern.

I quickly got to the main point with the old man. I asked if they could wash the wooden tubes we use in the outdoor shop.

“...I see. Well, we do have a place to wash things here, and with that amount of washing, it shouldn’t take more than an hour.”

This inn is run by the old man, his wife, and Albera, along with two other employees. Even without counting Albera, four people could handle the amount of washing we were planning in about an hour.

“There will be days when the volume is higher, so how about eight silver coins per day?”

“...That’s quite a lot.”

The average hourly wage for part-time work in this town is around one silver coin. Since one silver coin is roughly equivalent to 1,000 yen, it’s slightly lower than the part-time wages in my original world.

Compared to that, this would be a well-paying job in this town. However, adding an extra hour of work to their usual tasks would still be a burden.

“Of course, if you’re short on hands, we can ask the Adventurers' Guild for temporary help. Even just lending us the washing space would be a huge help. What do you think?”

If we only needed manpower, we could hire temporary workers from the Adventurers' Guild. Just having a place to wash everything would already be a big help. Since this was a kitchen for a dining establishment, the washing area was three to four times larger than the one on the second floor of our shop. With that much space, multiple people could handle the washing together.

“Oh, that’s fine with me. Washing dishes is something we can do while managing the inn, and if we do it little by little in our free time, it won’t be much of a burden. I’ll check with the staff, but since they’d be earning nearly two extra silver coins per day, they’ll probably be happy to take it on. I think it’ll be fine, but if they refuse, you can arrange for additional workers.”

“Really? Thank you, that’s a big help!”

“Thank you very much.”

Lilia and I bowed our heads in gratitude. For us, it was much better to rely on the old man and his inn, with whom we already had a good relationship, rather than reaching out to a completely unfamiliar dining establishment.

“Nah, it’s nothing. You’ve been sharing that outdoor spice with me, so this is just returning the favor. Besides, if we’re getting paid just to wash containers, it helps us too.”

We’d known the old man for a long time. He had helped us out in many ways before, so it was great that everything was settled so smoothly. Now, the cleaning of the wooden tubes and storage packs was taken care of.

After discussing the details, we agreed that at the end of each business day, I would bring the collected containers to the inn on a cart, and the staff would wash them that day. Then, I would pick them up the next day.

This way, they had a full day to wash the containers, and they could do it during their downtime, so it wouldn’t be too much of a burden. I didn’t want to overwork the inn staff and make things busier for Albera.

As for the cart, I debated whether to use the collapsible wagon available at the outdoor shop, but since it would stand out too much, I decided to purchase a standard cart from this world instead. Recently, camping gear had started to include foldable wagons for transporting equipment, so I had wanted to use one, but it was a shame.

“Wow, this is so cold and delicious!”

“It’s so jiggly, and the texture is really fun! It slides right into your mouth when it’s cold!”

“Ah, I’ve never had anything like this before, but it’s really good.”

After wrapping up today’s business without any problems, we were all gathered on the second floor, trying out some jelly drinks. It seemed to be a hit with Fia, Angel, and Dolph.

“Since this jelly drink isn’t as tasty unless it’s cold, we won’t be selling it in the shop.”

“Hmm, it would be amazing to have this on a hot day, but I guess it can’t be helped.”

Lilia looked disappointed, but jelly drinks just weren’t as good when they weren’t chilled. By the way, Lange wasn’t around this week, but we were still able to keep the jelly drinks cold.

The reason? Thanks to the ‘Portable Refrigerator’ and ‘Generator’ that became available for purchase when the outdoor shop reached Level 5.

At long last, we could use electricity in this other world!
