“GAAAAAAAAA!”
Shielding Ande from entering the magic nullification range with the colossal form of the Calamity, I unleashed an ultimate spell.
The ultimate spell manifested as a massive water dragon. Though its fangs and claws were formed of water, its body was tangible, capable of cutting through anything, absorbing all it engulfed, and drowning them in its depths. It was a formidable spell, one that could easily annihilate an entire city if wielded recklessly.
“…Hmm. Even if I evade this with teleportation magic, this water dragon will relentlessly pursue me. To counter it, I must either neutralize it with my own ultimate spell, as before, or erase it with Magic Eraser…
Interesting. I have never tested whether Magic Eraser can completely erase an ultimate spell. So, it becomes a wager—whether my Magic Eraser prevails or your ultimate spell does. Very well, I shall accept your challenge!”
Ande intended to counter my ultimate spell with his self-created Magic Eraser.
My magic power was already nearing its limit. In such a short time, I had cast two ultimate spells along with dozens of intermediate and advanced spells. Even with the various overpowered magical artifacts from the house of the Grand Mage, I would need rest before I could cast another ultimate spell.
Ande, too, had cast one ultimate spell and even more intermediate and advanced spells than I had. Yet, he still seemed to have reserves left. If I didn’t end this now, I would have no chance of victory!
“GAAAAAAAAA!”
“Come at me!”
The massive water dragon closed in on Ande.
The gigantic water dragon surged forward, created by an ultimate spell.
But there was no need to panic. The magical theory I had constructed was flawless. If it was magic—even an ultimate spell—it could be erased entirely.
Based on my master's experience fighting the Calamity, I had refined and perfected this unique magic. I had wished for my master to witness its completion.
…But my master had already passed away. Given his abilities, he could have easily extended his life by researching my high elf blood. Yet, he stubbornly refused.
He always claimed, “I want to live out my human lifespan.” But I suspect part of it was out of consideration for me.
…Truly, back then, I was just a worthless high elf child who couldn’t even use magic properly. Even if he had dissected me for research, I wouldn’t have had the right to complain.
And yet, for all his talk of living as a human, he never stopped bringing women home every day. That foolish master…
Did he ever consider the one who had to clean up after his escapades? From nobles and royals to adventurers and common town girls, he seduced them all.
At the very least, I begged him countless times not to lay hands on married women or those already in relationships. I nearly got killed multiple times because of it!
…Damn it. Fighting against Masayoshi, my master’s disciple, brings back too many memories of him.
Getting revenge on those who mocked me for being weak seemed so trivial now. In truth, I only wanted to grow strong enough to stand beside my master.
I lacked talent. Even dedicating everything to training, it took me this long to reach this level. I thought that by fighting powerful beings and mighty creatures, I might find some trace of my master. When I learned he had passed away, I was saddened—but I never imagined I’d meet his disciple here.
This battle has truly been exhilarating. That Calamity’s corpse… That was terrifying. The idea that the Grandest enemy of all magic users had finally been defeated… I had devised numerous strategies, but even I doubted if I could have succeeded. And yet, the one who defeated it turned out to be my master’s fellow disciple. This must be fate.
I never told Masayoshi, but even if I win here, I will prevent the execution of the royal he wishes to save. No matter how many descendants my master may have had, it would not justify abandoning them.
So, he can rest easy and accept defeat. Though my magic reserves have dropped below half, Masayoshi must be at his limit by now. No—perhaps I should instead praise him. A human possessing magic power nearly equal to that of a high elf like me…
This ultimate spell shall be erased, and my victory shall be secured!
“GAAAAAAAAA!”
The colossal water dragon neared me.
“…Ngh!”
As expected, the resistance was far Grander than when I erased advanced spells or barrier magic. But it doesn’t matter—I will overpower it with sheer force!
—Huff.
There was impact. The massive water dragon that Masayoshi unleashed began vanishing from its head.
With this, I have won! I am the strongest in the world!
“Huh?”
As the water dragon vanished, several objects flew toward me.
What? Did Masayoshi throw something? They weren’t moving fast, nor were they weapons. If they were within Magic Eraser’s range yet remained unaffected, they couldn’t be magical attacks. Why throw something like that?
—BAAAAAAAAAAAAM!!
“GAAAAAAAH!!”
What happened!?
I… can’t… see… anything…! I… can’t… hear… anything…!
