Full Potion

Update:

Hey guys,
As most of you probably know by now Disqus has stopped providing services to many sites and our site is one of them. Right now, we are in the middle of developing our independent comment system. As of today(26 March 2025), we are releasing the comment with Limited features. There are other features still under development and may take some time to roll out.

In the most prominent location of the most famous magic tool shop in the country, a single bottle filled with a blue liquid was stored inside an incredibly sturdy-looking case.

“So this is the legendary Full Potion…”

“Of course, this is my first time seeing one as well.”

This was precisely the reason I had gone out of my way to separate from Lilia and visit this shop. When thinking about how to separate from Lilia in order to explore the capital separately, splitting up by gender was the most foolproof method.

Knowing Lilia, if she found out I was trying to heal her left arm, she would definitely try to stop me. We've known each other for a long time, and I understand her that much at least.

That's exactly why I had everyone cooperate with me to come to this shop without telling Lilia.

“Um, I don’t see a price tag on this. How much does it cost?”

Even if it was a legendary item, since it was displayed in the shop, it had to be for sale.

“The ingredients used in this Full Potion are all extremely rare, and only a handful of craftsmen are capable of refining them. Because of this, the price is always determined based on the current market value. At present, this Full Potion is priced at 10,350 gold coins.”

“T-Ten thousand three hundred fifty gold coins!? That’s quite… something.”

When I had asked Lilia before, she had said that the price could range from several thousand gold coins, possibly even exceeding ten thousand. But I never expected it to really be over ten thousand…

Converted into my previous world’s currency, that would be over a hundred million yen. The concept of fluctuating prices… I had only seen that in high-end sushi restaurants in my old world. Not that I had ever actually eaten at one, though.

At this point, even 350 gold coins were starting to feel like pocket change. It was a strange feeling.

“Our store guarantees the highest quality for our Full Potions. If, by any chance, the potion fails to heal an injury, we offer a full refund. While Full Potions occasionally appear at auctions, the reality is that many of them are counterfeits or of inferior quality. Here, there is no such risk, which is why the price is high.”

“I see…”

“Additionally, the item here is just a sample. Since the effectiveness of recovery potions diminishes over time, they are only made to order.”

Given how expensive this item was, it made sense that counterfeits and defective products would be rampant. That was precisely why, despite the steep price, buying from this shop was the safest option.

“I guess I can’t afford it just yet.”

I had already heard from Ruhail that the current market price of a Full Potion was close to ten thousand gold coins, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to buy one right now. But I had wanted to at least see the price for myself.

Lately, I had been earning extra income from various sources, and soon I would start distributing products to other towns and the capital. This meant my earnings would increase even further. However, I still didn’t have nearly enough money at the moment.

On top of that, my outdoor shop’s abilities were on the verge of reaching level five. Depending on what products became available, that could change things.

For now, I had achieved my primary objective for coming here, so I took the opportunity to browse other items before leaving the shop. I wondered if I should at least buy something, but the store clerk told me it wasn’t necessary.

Perhaps it was thanks to Ruhail, the Adventurers' Guild Master, who had written my letter of introduction. I would have to properly thank him later.

“Still, that price was outrageous.”

After leaving the magic tool shop, we decided to take a break at a café, ordering some drinks to relax for a bit.

“Not just the Full Potion—every magic tool in that store was incredibly expensive. This really is the best magic tool shop in the country.”

While browsing, I had seen numerous items priced between 100 and 1,000 gold coins, if not more. No wonder the shop needed such heavy security.

That said, depending on the type of magic tool, some of them seemed less convenient than a simple burner from my outdoor shop. If I wanted, I could probably sell products from my shop at high prices here in the capital.

It might be worth considering as a way to earn money. While I had never really cared about getting rich, the Full Potion was a different matter altogether.

“But the biggest issue is whether Lilia would even accept it.”

“That’s true… Knowing Lilia’s personality, she’d probably say she’s fine as she is and ask you to return it.”

“Exactly!”

As Lange and Dolph pointed out, given Lilia’s personality, if I asked her whether she wanted to spend this much money to restore her left arm, she would definitely shake her head.

“Even if I managed to get my hands on a Full Potion, something this expensive isn’t something she’d easily accept as a gift…”

“Lilia is quite serious, after all.”

Even an average person would hesitate to accept a gift worth over ten thousand gold coins. For someone as earnest as Lilia, it would be even more difficult.

More importantly, my very act of trying to obtain the potion might be seen as forcing my good intentions onto her.

But every time I saw Lilia struggling without her left arm, it hurt me. I wanted to help her. Ever since I arrived in this world, she had always supported me. It was thanks to her that my shop was running so well. It was no exaggeration to say that I owed my success to Lilia. That was why I wanted to do everything I could for her.

“…In that case, how about giving it to her as a proposal gift?”

“P-P-Proposal!?”
