Yoon Nana was confused.

“I don’t really understand. No, I don’t understand anything.”

“I told you Dimension is an acquaintance of mine. He really is. A very close acquaintance. Because he’s my real brother.”

“R-r-really?”

“Yeah. A hundred percent, for real.”

“But why did he keep it a secret?”

“My brother’s a detective. If a detective becomes famous as a composer and his face gets known, it’d be inconvenient when he’s out catching criminals. So he told me to keep it a secret.”

“Does that even make sense?”

“Of course not. But what can I do? He’s the one holding the knife. Sorry, but if my brother sulks, he might really stop giving us songs. That guy sulks super easily.”

Park Ha-yeon snapped back to her senses and asked,

“Unni! So Detective Seo is Dimension?”

“Yeah. It’s hard to believe, but that big oaf is both Detective Seo and Dimension.”

Park Da-yeon threw up her hands.

“All hail Detective Dimension!”

Yoon Nana was too overwhelmed to join in.

Recently, two people had saved her life.

One had rescued her from a murderer’s clutches, and the other had given her an amazing song that allowed her to debut as a singer.

She had realized the moment she heard it—this wasn’t a song meant for a struggling agency’s trainee group.

Yet, Dimension had given them not one but two incredible songs. It was clear he was deliberately pushing 4Cats forward.

‘And now I find out they’re the same person? And that he’s my best friend’s brother? Huh? My friend’s brother?’

As soon as that thought hit, she realized the real issue at hand.

“Ah!”

Her mind cleared.

She tightly gripped Seo Sora’s hands.

“Sora.”

“Mm?”

“Let’s stay really close.”

“Nana, are you taking your meds properly? Get a grip. We’re already super close.”

After sending a text on the rooftop, Seo Jung-woo clicked his tongue.

“I knew I couldn’t keep it a secret from them forever, but this is earlier than I expected.”

Now, Yoon Nana, Park Ha-yeon, and Park Da-yeon knew that he was Dimension.

That in itself wasn’t a big problem.

He could make sure they kept quiet, and even if it got out, it wasn’t something to be criticized for. If anything, people would just find it impressive.

But if it became fully public knowledge, there would be one problem.

“With lyrics, I can just make up whatever meaning people ask for. But with composition…”

Both songs were actually composed by the twins’ father, Park Cheol-woo.

“What do I say if someone asks me for advice on music?”

He had a good ear for music.

Having lived in a world where music was more advanced, he had listened to countless songs and developed an ear for it.

On top of that, thanks to his awakened skill and the real combat experience of fighting monsters, he had sharpened his ability to analyze sound. If something was even slightly off, he could immediately catch and correct it.

But all he could do with that ability was point out mistakes. He could tell if something was wrong, but he had no idea how to fix it.

That was something Park Cheol-woo was good at.

That’s why he had been secretly taking 4Cats’ recordings to the other world, getting feedback from Park Cheol-woo, and then bringing that advice back to email them.

Park Cheol-woo’s advice was always spot on. ES Entertainment’s president, Oh Dong-cheol, was also actively teaching 4Cats.

The four members of 4Cats absorbed their lessons well and improved quickly.

So far, this method had worked without any problems.

“But if my identity is revealed and I meet other music professionals, I’ll be exposed immediately. Then they’ll start getting suspicious.”

That’s why he had chosen to stay mysterious—to hide the fact that he couldn’t actually compose.

“Should I go to Uncle Cheol-woo and at least learn how to bluff when people ask? But what do I say if he asks why I need that? Ugh, this is annoying.”

Park Da-yeon was browsing the internet on her phone when she suddenly screamed.

“Whoa! Detective Dimension is trending!”

Seo Sora panicked and tried to stop her.

“Hey! Don’t call him that! What if someone hears and figures it out?”

“Oh, right. Then how about Detective D?”

“Which ranking is it? It’s not trending under the composer Dimension, is it?”

“Nope, it’s trending as a detective.”

“Then just call him Detective Seo. What’s with Detective D?”

“Detective D sounds cooler, though.”

“You little brat! Are you saying our Seo family is inferior to the D family?”

“Nay, nay. Your humble maid has found something interesting, my lady. Please have a look.”

“Ahem. Very well, bring it to me at once.”

Park Da-yeon showed her an internet forum. It was the same forum that had previously been filled with posts about the twins and Park Cheol-woo.

Right now, the hottest topic was the Seo Jung-woo segment that had aired on TV.

– Whoa, check out the caliber of Korean detectives. This is insane. Now THIS is a detective!

– But wasn’t the kidnapped person a detective too?

– Uh… then he’s a Seoul detective.

– They were actually from the same precinct. Apparently, they’re on adjacent teams.

– Then they’re just both detectives! A detective is a detective!

– He solved the case in under two hours after finding out about the kidnapping. That’s lightning-fast.

– This isn’t the first time Detective Seo has solved a case this fast. The other two cases also took less than two hours.

– What other cases?

– The 24-hour serial killer case. The prosecution and police had formed a joint investigation unit, but they couldn’t even find a single clue—not even whether the killer was a man or a woman. But Detective Seo caught the culprit in less than two hours after the crime.

– Whoa, so that serial killer was caught by this guy?

– Yep. It was the first case he worked on as a detective. Literally on his first day in the detective unit, he solved it.

– Whoa. Is that for real?

– That’s what the news reported.

– Then there was the murder framing case of AKX Pictures’ CEO. The real culprit was an insider and a lawyer who set an elaborate trap. But Detective Seo exposed the lawyer as the killer and saved the kidnapped victim just before they were killed. That case also took less than two hours to solve.

– And now, this case took under two hours too? Whoa, everything he does is a two-hour speedrun.

– So this kidnapping was his third case?

– Another detective figured out it was the work of the Sagori gang, though.

– True, but the moment Detective Seo heard that, he tracked down the boss’s mistress, found the warehouse under her name, and rescued all the hostages.

– Damn. That’s insane.

– Do you know what’s even more amazing? In all three of those cases, Detective Seo Jung-woo fought alone. He took down a knife-wielding murderer by himself, took down a knife-wielding lawyer by himself, and took down two knife-wielding gangsters by himself.

– Wait, why was he fighting alone? In movies, detectives always call for backup when catching criminals.

– The situations were too urgent for backup. In all three cases, the victims’ lives were in danger. Especially in the second case, if he had been even slightly late, he might not have been able to save the victim.

– That’s right. So even though Detective Seo Jung-woo was unarmed, he rushed in and fought.

– Wow. He’s not just an incredible investigator; he’s also an incredible fighter!

– I’ve read through all the posts, but there’s something I don’t understand. With skills like that, why is he still just a police officer?

– Huh? A officer? No way.

– In the press conference video, they mentioned he’s a officer.

– Wow. I just watched the broadcast. The reporters were all fired up, bombarding him with questions, but Detective Seo Jung-woo barely answered, keeping it short and simple. He’s seriously cool.

– I watched it too. He’s on a whole different level.

Seo Sora read the comments and chuckled slyly.

“Hehehe. At this rate, isn’t my brother going to get promoted?”

Park Ha-yeon asked,

“Unnie, wasn’t Detective Seo’s promotion already decided when he caught the serial killer? You didn’t know?”

“Huh?”

“You’re so indifferent, even though he’s your own brother. My mom said that just catching that serial killer within 24 hours was enough to guarantee a one-rank promotion.”

Seo Sora clenched her fist.

“Ugh! Then he should’ve told me! He probably hid it because he didn’t want to treat me to a promotion dinner!”

The secretary handed a tablet PC to Kim Sung-joon, the president of AKX Pictures, a film, drama, and commercial production company.

“Sir, you told me to report any new updates on Detective Seo Jung-woo. An interview video has been released.”

“Oh?”

“Yes. In this case—”

“No need to explain. I’ll watch it myself.”

Kim Sung-joon started watching the press conference video from the beginning. He focused only on Seo Jung-woo’s parts, fast-forwarding through the police chief’s speech at double speed.

“Phew. As expected, he’s incredible. Detective Seo Jung-woo…”

The secretary commented,

“If you’re close to Detective Seo, you’d never have to worry about being in danger. He’d come to save you before it was too late.”

“He’d see right through anyone approaching him for that reason.”

“Ah, true. He’s just that skilled.”

Detective Baek Sung-min and Detective Jo Min-seok stepped onto the rooftop of the police station.

Jo Min-seok spoke to Seo Jung-woo.

“There are still a few reporters hanging around in the detective division. They’re not planning on leaving until you show up.”

“Then I’ll just go home.”

“You really love going home, huh? What kind of detective is so obsessed with clocking out… Ah, but in your case, it’s fine. The chief announced that anyone trying to stop you from leaving will be in serious trouble. Same goes for our team leader. If we need anything for paperwork, we’ll just call.”

Baek Sung-min sighed.

“Ugh, seriously. I should’ve been standing behind you during the press conference. I wanted to be on TV too.”

Seo Jung-woo replied,

“You should’ve just sneaked in. Grabbed the mic and explained how you figured out the Sagori gang was behind it.”

“You think I didn’t want to? The chief ordered me to go straight to the crime scene for investigation. Orders are orders.”

“Oh, right. Hey, when we were investigating the Sagori gang, we suspected three other groups might be backing them, right?”

“Yeah.”

“One of them, the Knife Gang, got completely wiped out. Not a trace left.”

Seo Jung-woo already knew—because he was the one who wiped them out.

“Do they know who did it?”

“No. There were no witnesses, and nothing was caught on nearby CCTVs. The detectives on the case are checking security footage, but they don’t expect to find much.”

“What about inside the building?”

Baek Sung-min showed a picture on his phone. The building was completely burned down, reduced to just its skeletal frame.

“Look at this. Think there’s any evidence left? It’s obvious the fire was intentional. But what kind of fire burns a building down like this? Even if they poured gasoline, it wouldn’t turn out like this.”

The building had burned so severely because of incendiary bombs enhanced with an extract from a fire lizard’s bodily fluids. Seo Jung-woo had detonated four of them.

Baek Sung-min glanced around. Only the three of them were on the rooftop.

“And this part isn’t for the reporters yet, but there were multiple gunshots at the scene.”

Seo Jung-woo had expected that someone might have heard them.

“Who fired?”

“My guess? A rival gang ambushed the Knife Gang, and they shot back. Damn gangsters, shooting guns and setting fires in the middle of Seoul. What is this, America?”

Seo Jung-woo was satisfied that no evidence had been left behind.

He casually asked another question.

“When did the incident happen?”

“Around the same time we were out looking for Detective Kim. The fire started about ten minutes later.”

Baek Sung-min didn’t suspect Seo Jung-woo at all. The only way to get from one place to the other in ten minutes would be by helicopter.

Baek Sung-min stretched.

“Ugh, our precinct isn’t even in charge of the Knife Gang, so let’s not stress over it. We’ll just check the final report when it’s done. But man, the team handling that case is gonna have a rough time.”

“Because gangsters died?”

“No, because now that the area is up for grabs, everyone’s going to fight for it. They’ll have to reevaluate the entire gang hierarchy.”

“Ah.”

“They’ll probably start stabbing each other too. If someone dies, that’s another investigation. And they still need to figure out which gang took down the Knife Gang. Those detectives aren’t going home anytime soon. Even the Major Crimes Unit must be scrambling.”

Seo Jung-woo thought to himself.

‘I do feel a little bad for them.’

The next afternoon, Seo Jung-woo received a recording of 4cats’ song “Smash It” and crossed over to the other dimension.

He took a bus to the defense line at the Aptitude Gate.

This time, he didn’t have to go inside to rescue Park Cheol-woo. The man was already injured and bandaged.

Seo Jung-woo scolded him.

“Ahjussi, seriously, take better care of yourself.”

Park Cheol-woo chuckled, despite the bandage on his arm.

“This isn’t enough to kill me.”

“Still, since your arm is hurt, you’ll have to rest for a few days.”

He made it sound like just a few days, but Park Cheol-woo had been deeply slashed by a mantis’ forearm blade.

Fighting past the defense line with an injury like that was suicidal. Park Cheol-woo wanted to kill more monsters, not die fighting them.

“If I had a Red Potion, I could be back in action immediately.”

“Yeah, if you had one. But you don’t.”
