The first day of the live event ended without any issues. From the evening onward, we had free time, but after working all day under the blazing sun, everyone was too exhausted, and no one suggested going to the beach.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner at the inn and wanted to go to bed early to prepare for tomorrow, but...
"Aniki, thank you so much for coming even though you're tired!"
I received a message from Mogi-san, and for some reason, I found myself at a martial arts gym near the inn. It wasn’t for a duel or anything; he just wanted me to be his sparring partner.
By the way, Mogi-san and Sayama-san were staying at a fancy hotel rather than our inn. Mogi-san had rented this gym for a short time by paying the staff. Around the ring, several gym members were watching.
"There aren't many chances like this, so I have to take the opportunity. Besides, I always feel bad that I can't give you proper advice."
Ever since we exchanged contact information, he had been asking me for various advice, but I only inherited the power of the great mage—I wasn’t knowledgeable about martial arts. The best I could do was practical training like today.
"There’s an upcoming mixed martial arts tournament. Last time, I placed third, so this time, I’m aiming for the championship. Aniki, I know it’s a lot to ask, but please let me train with you!"
Wow, I had heard he had participated in a tournament, but I didn’t know he placed third. And yet, despite being that strong, he had no problem challenging an ordinary guy like me to a fight when we first met...
Isn't it a big deal if a martial artist injures a regular person? If he’s strong enough to place in a tournament, he should at least be able to control his strength.
"I can’t really teach you anything, so just come at me however you like."
"Ossu! I appreciate it!"
"Haa... Haa... Thank you very much."
"Thank you as well."
"Man, Aniki, you’re seriously strong! I didn’t stand a chance at all!"
Mogi-san was lying flat on the ring, arms spread wide. We had been sparring for quite some time. At first, he was holding back, using only gloved punches. But as I kept blocking his attacks, he gradually started mixing in kicks.
While defending against his strikes, I mimicked his movements and launched some light counterattacks. He blocked those skillfully. Seeing that, I adjusted my attacks to increase their speed, making the session more beneficial for his training.
"But honestly, Mogi-san, I think you've gotten stronger since last time. At the very least, your punches are faster than before."
"Really!? That’s all thanks to the intense fundamental training I’ve been doing!"
A few months ago, when we traded blows in the backstage dressing room at the live venue, his punches weren’t this fast. I may be a martial arts novice, but with my foresight skill, I can see his punches in slow motion, making it easy to notice the difference in speed.
"Aniki, have you ever considered entering a tournament?"
"Hmm, I’m not really interested."
This power wasn’t something I worked hard to obtain. I just happened to inherit the great mage’s abilities. It wouldn’t feel right to compete against those who’ve spent years training and invalidate their efforts.
"I see... That’s too bad. Some tournaments even have prize money over a million yen, you know."
"Wait, seriously!?"
...No, no, I need to stop. I reacted instinctively when I heard "one million yen." If I ever run into financial trouble, I can just sell some of the gold coins or jewels I got from the other world. There’s no need to enter a tournament.
After helping with Mogi-san’s training, he gave me a ride back to the inn in a taxi. I took a bath to wash off the sweat and went to bed. Mogi-san seemed serious about improving, and since I barely felt any fatigue, I promised to train with him again tomorrow night.
The next morning, after having breakfast at the inn, I headed to the live venue with everyone. Since the stage setup was completed yesterday, today’s work involved transporting equipment.
"Is it okay to place this here?"
"Yeah, that's fine. By the way, you’re really strong! That’s a huge help. Could you also bring the costume boxes over to the dressing room?"
"Got it."
With my current strength, carrying heavy boxes is no issue. I could probably carry six at a time like something out of a manga. Maybe I should consider doing moving jobs for extra cash.
"Excuse me, I brought the costumes."
"Oh, Aniki! Thanks a lot! Just leave them over there. Takahashi-san, bring the first stage outfits. Also, double-check if Yoshihara-san’s hairstyle matches the costumes!"
"Y-Yes!"
Mogi-san was in the dressing room. Come to think of it, since he’s in charge of the costumes for Sayama-san and other groups, it makes sense that he’d be here.
He was busy giving instructions to others. Watching from a distance, I had to admit—he’s competent, good-looking, and probably popular. Sayama-san once mentioned that Mogi-san was surprisingly well-liked, and I was starting to see why.
And so, the second day of the live event ended smoothly, without any major incidents or accidents.
