The second day of the auction passed without incident. A magic sword made an appearance, which caught my interest, but I was hoping for something even more amazing on the third day. There were also monster materials up for bid, but since they appeared before the earth dragon’s materials, they didn’t really catch my attention.
"Now then, the first item in the latter half of the Platinum Section is this!"
The Platinum Section had a minimum starting bid of ten million Fron, but the last item in the first half had already reached fifty million. Honestly, ever since yesterday, my sense of money had completely gone out the window.
"The starting bid is one hundred million Fron. It appears to have been put up for auction again this time. The highly sought-after Elixir has made its appearance!"
"What!?"
"Huh?"
I stared intently at the container placed on the cart. I focused on the liquid inside and appraised it—it was indeed an Elixir. The description even confirmed that it could heal the loss of limbs.
"It's real..."
I recalled the day we first arrived in the commercial nation. We had been scammed into buying a fake Elixir for ten million, but I never expected to see the real thing here.
As expected of a popular item, the bids had already reached three hundred million.
"The real thing is this expensive, huh..."
Rio looked exasperated, but considering it could regenerate lost limbs, this price made sense. Still, the fact that it wasn’t in the Mithril Section meant it was a product that appeared on the market somewhat regularly.
"It might be a good idea to get one just in case."
"Yeah, we’re lucky enough to have the money for it."
"Alright… Four hundred million!"
As soon as the bidding reached three hundred fifty million, I immediately raised my voice.
However, my opponent wasn't backing down, and the price kept climbing. By the time it surpassed five hundred million, it had become a one-on-one bidding war between me and another bidder.
"This one's climbing quite high..."
"Is that so?"
Curious about the usual price, I asked Fleur, and she told me that Elixirs sometimes went for as low as two hundred million Fron when demand was low. Unless there was an urgent need for it, the price usually stayed around that range.
"So that means the other bidder must have someone in desperate need of the Elixir?"
"That’s highly likely."
"Ah, I see... Now I kind of feel bad."
"You don’t have to worry about it."
"We only wanted it as a precaution… What should we do?"
Hearing this, Rio also started to feel hesitant. Even if it was for our own safety, we weren’t so desperate that we needed to outbid someone who truly needed it.
"Hmm… Maybe we should let this one go?"
"Yeah, let’s do that."
Rather than deal with the guilt of possibly preventing someone’s recovery, it was better to just give up on it.
"Six hundred fifty million Fron! Any other bidders?"
The auctioneer scanned the room. After confirming that no one else was bidding, they triumphantly declared the Elixir sold for six hundred fifty million.
"Next, we present an item that could be considered the spearhead of today’s highlight products!"
After several more items were sold, the moment we had been waiting for finally arrived.
A cart was wheeled onto the stage from the back. Sitting on it was a massive claw.
"Behold, the claws of an earth dragon! We have a complete set—twenty claws from all four limbs!"
The crowd buzzed with excitement at the auctioneer’s announcement.
"Ufufu, it’s finally here," Fleur said, turning to look at us with a smile. I had to admit, my heart was racing a bit too.
"I’m curious to see how much this will sell for."
"The bidding starts at five hundred million Fron!"
"Six hundred million!"
"Seven hundred million!"
As soon as the bidding opened, the numbers skyrocketed. The minimum increments were one hundred million. What the hell was going on…? It had already surpassed one billion.
"No way, earth dragons are that popular?"
"This is insane..."
"They’re incredibly rare, after all. It’s been over a decade since a true dragon—not a wyvern or lesser variant—has been put up for auction."
"Wow, that’s amazing."
"By the way, how often do Elixirs appear at auctions?"
Rio tilted her head in curiosity.
"Elixirs aren’t that rare. They occasionally appear in dungeons, and they show up at auctions maybe once a year, if at all."
Hmm. Since most people probably used them immediately, they might be even easier to obtain than I thought.
"Sold for one billion six hundred million Fron!"
Before I realized it, the earth dragon’s claws had been sold. The final bid even surpassed the minimum for the Mithril Section.
"Man, earth dragons are something else."
Next, the earth dragon’s fangs were put up for auction, starting at eight hundred million Fron. Naturally, the bids steadily increased, and in the end, they sold for two billion one hundred million.
"Hahaha…"
All I could do was let out a dry laugh. And there were still the Mithril Section items coming up, right? Our total earnings were probably going to jump by another digit.
Several more items were auctioned off in the Platinum Section after that, but none of them managed to surpass the final bids for the earth dragon’s materials.
