“Then, would you be interested in becoming a trainee for the MBS team? A trainee isn’t an official player, but they train alongside the pro team…”
“I know.”
“If you already know, that makes things faster. You’ll probably receive little to no salary. But if you improve your skills and go pro…”
“I’ll do it.”
Once again, Judy answered before the explanation could go on any longer.
Lee Shin paused and stared at Judy for a moment.
Judy smiled brightly.
“I want to go to MBS with Kaiser. Teach me the game.”
Lee Shin smiled.
Things had just gotten a lot easier.
There was no doubt that this girl, Judith Levelin, had come to Korea with the goal of becoming a professional gamer.
Ever since Lee Shin’s rise to fame, more and more aspiring foreign pro gamers had begun coming to Korea to learn the game.
“Then, let’s talk about something else.”
“Speak comfortably… I’m eighteen. I respect Kaiser.”
Her speech was awkward, but the meaning was clear.
“Alright. Judy, how did you start playing Space Craft?”
“I was a fan of John Patrick.”
‘John Patrick?’
Lee Shin searched his memory.
The name was familiar.
He recalled meeting a player like that at the World SC Grand Prix.
“Canada, right? A player from the Lee Shin Sect?”
“Yes.”
“I don’t remember losing in the World SC Grand Prix, so I must have won.”
“Yes, you crushed him in the Round of 32… The people in Canada were shocked.”
“You must resent me then.”
Judy shook her head.
“That time, Lee Shin won gold without a single loss… Now, I’m a Kaiser fan.”
In his debut year, Lee Shin not only won the domestic individual league but also achieved an undefeated victory at the World SC Grand Prix.
The world was stunned, and from that moment on, he was called a god.
Winning an individual league in one’s first appearance was called the Royal Road.
But because of Lee Shin, a new term was born.
God’s Road.
It referred to winning an individual league undefeated in one’s first attempt.
To this day, no one other than Lee Shin had ever accomplished such a feat.
‘She’s my fan and has modeled her play after mine, so this is getting easier by the minute.’
Lee Shin decided to take Judy as his disciple.
Raising a disciple and making her a top star.
It was the perfect pastime for a coach until he returned as a player.
The amateur league held at the Yongsan eSports Center was a festival for pro team trainees.
Yongsan was chosen because it was the closest location to all the pro team lodgings.
The MBS team had sent three trainees, and two of them had earned semi-pro status.
However, the one who failed had decided to give up on his dream of becoming a professional gamer, leaving the atmosphere at MBS somber.
8:30 AM.
The players left their lodgings and headed in a group toward the MBS broadcasting station, where their practice room was located.
And then, at that moment—
A large black limousine smoothly pulled up in front of the station.
“Oh, a limousine.”
“Is it a celebrity?”
“Could be the CEO.”
Since it was a broadcasting station, seeing celebrities wasn’t unusual.
However, the person who stepped out of the limousine was unexpectedly a teenage foreign girl.
The girl, with white skin and blue eyes, was wearing the same outfit as the players heading to the practice room.
The MBS team uniform.
“Huh? That’s…”
“She’s wearing our uniform.”
“Is she a fan of our team?”
“What kind of fan arrives in a limousine?”
The players were completely taken aback by the sight of the cute white girl stepping out of the limousine.
The girl shyly smiled at them and gave a small wave.
The players, still in a daze, awkwardly waved back.
Then, as if embarrassed, the girl quickly dashed into the broadcasting station.
And then...
“Ah, hello. I’m Judy. I’m eighteen. I’m a human. I’m Canadian. Nice to meet you…”
👏👏👏—!!
“Ooooh!”
“The new trainee is a girl?”
“A foreign beauty!”
The players were ecstatic. Some even gave her a standing ovation.
Even the usually stern manager Bang Jin-ho couldn’t maintain his characteristic bluntness in front of the delicate and innocent Judy.
“Ahem, Judy, your seat is over there. Got it?”
Manager Bang Jin-ho’s unexpectedly gentle tone made everyone cringe.
Judy beamed when she saw her assigned seat. She immediately recognized the keyboard and mouse next to her—the ones exclusively used by Lee Shin.
Meanwhile, Bang Jin-ho flinched when he caught sight of the backpack she placed down.
The Prada logo on it was no joke.
‘They said she comes from money.’
Director Park Sang-hyuk had mentioned that during her contract signing yesterday, she had been accompanied by a fearsome-looking foreign lawyer.
He had sternly warned Bang Jin-ho to take good care of Judy unless he wanted to get sued.
The equipment she pulled out of her Prada backpack was equally extraordinary.
‘Huh, FIRES?’
FIRES M90.
A luxury mini optical mouse that cost 320,000 won!
It was originally an obscure American product, but ever since Lee Shin started using it, it had gained fame.
‘And on top of that… NewType Solid?!’
NEWTYPE SOLID.
A mechanical keyboard priced at 385,000 won, also favored by Lee Shin.
‘Is this just a coincidence?’
The mouse pad she took out was different from Lee Shin’s.
But Judy glanced back and forth between her mouse pad and the one on Lee Shin’s desk, tilting her head.
Then, she casually picked up Lee Shin’s mouse pad and flipped it over to check the product name on the back.
‘So it’s not a coincidence.’
Bang Jin-ho realized that Judy was an enormous Lee Shin fan.
It was now obvious that the reason she was so determined to become a professional gamer in Korea was because of Lee Shin.
An arrogant mentor and an obsessive fan as a disciple—there was no telling what kind of results this pairing would bring.
‘Well… they do seem like a good match.’
Just as she finished setting up her equipment and was about to start the game, Lee Shin finally arrived at work.
“You punk, why are you so late?”
Lee Shin held up his wristwatch.
“It’s 9 o’clock.”
“Watch your tone.”
“It’s exactly 9 AM.”
Lee Shin strictly adhered to the working hours stated in his contract. He had no intention of arriving before his boss.
“It’s Judy’s first day. You should’ve come in early, you punk.”
Only then did Lee Shin shift his gaze to the girl seated next to him.
Their eyes met, and Judy’s pale face flushed red once again.
“You here?”
“Yes.”
“Let’s start practice. Create an online room. The map is Celestial Crossroads.”
“Yes.”
Judy quickly logged into online mode and created a room.
Lee Shin sat down and launched Space Craft.
- Kaiser has entered!
- Kaiser: That’s your ID?
- iLoveSin: Yes
Judy blushed, but Lee Shin didn’t pay any attention to the meaning behind her ID.
- Kaiser: Okay, start.
- iLoveSin: Yes
And so, their practice began.
