Everything Seems Fine

Message:

Hello guys,
First of all, we would like to apologize for disappearing without notice. Some problem suddenly came up with the hosting service we were using so we had to migrate our website. It took some time but we are finally up and running again. We will try to make sure that this does not happen again.

Additionally, this sudden migration has put a strain on our finances, so we need your support more than ever. As for how you can support us, we have listed that below:

Once again, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused. We hope that you will continue to support us.

“Thank you very much!”

The day ended without any problems. After the last customer left, I flipped the sign outside to indicate the shop was closed.

“Phew, great work today, everyone. Just having one extra person makes things so much easier.”

“Indeed. Having four staff members makes a significant difference. It was nothing like last week.”

“Yep! It was so much easier today. I could stay calm and calculate properly!”

With Dolph joining the team, the burden on Lilia and Fia-chan was noticeably reduced. Last week, there were often long lines at the register, which kept customers waiting.

When people queue up at the register, it makes us rush, and mistakes in calculations can happen.

“How was your first day, Dolph? Did it go okay?”

“Yeah. But it’s busier than I expected. I’m fine physically, but dealing with customers is mentally tiring.”

“Well, you’re a former adventurer, so I figured you’d be okay physically. Meanwhile, I’m feeling it both physically and mentally…”

Customer service surprisingly requires a lot of stamina. You’re on your feet most of the time, and carrying items from the storage room can be quite exhausting.

We do take turns having breaks during slower hours, but it’s still tiring. With Dolph now on the team, there’s a bit more leeway, so I might extend our break times.

“As far as customer interactions go, there were no issues. You handled troublesome customers well, and your smile and tone are spot-on. No need to change anything.”

As expected, Dolph’s good looks meant many female adventurers approached him for product explanations. And when some male adventurers got jealous and spoke rudely or made baseless complaints, he handled it smoothly.

I had worried that adventurers might act impulsively, but Dolph seems capable of controlling himself. If he’d been quick to lose his temper and escalate things with customers, I’d have had to reconsider hiring him.

“I’d cause trouble for Angel if I made a scene. When I think about that, I know it’s not worth getting upset over every little thing.”

“...”

As I thought, all of this man’s actions revolve around his sister, Angel. Well, as long as he doesn’t cause problems, I suppose that’s fine.

If someone were to badmouth Angel, though, he might lose his temper. But in that case, the other party would be at fault. I’d just have to rely on Lilia to step in before things got out of hand.

“Other than improving your math a bit and memorizing the product prices, you’re doing great. Those things will come with time and practice. Lilia, Fia-chan, do you have any feedback?”

“No particular issues. If possible, I’d like him to focus more on restocking items. Since I only have one arm and Fia-chan can’t carry heavy things, we tend to be slower.”

“I’ll keep that in mind and focus on it starting tomorrow.”

“Fia has no issues.”

“How about you, Dolph? If there’s anything you’d like to change, anything that’s difficult, or anything at all, don’t hesitate to tell me.”

“For now, everything seems fine. Honestly, with the pay I’m receiving for this work, I feel like I’m being overcompensated.”

“As I mentioned during the interview, your role includes not just staff duties but also providing security. I’ll be counting on you when the time comes.”

“Leave it to me!”

It looks like Dolph’s employment is going to work out just fine. I’ll still keep an eye on him tomorrow, but he seems capable of handling things alone already.

After that, I taught Dolph how to handle closing procedures. With one more person, the time it took to finish everything was greatly reduced, which was a huge help.

Two days later, Dolph continued to work without issue. Today, I left him to work independently for the first time. He seemed to have gotten used to the job and was working more efficiently than on his first day.

He had also started coordinating well with Lilia and Fia-chan, making the workflow smoother and more efficient. The number of customers had also settled down a bit compared to last week, so things were much more manageable.

Still, if even one person took a day off, we’d be short-staffed again. It might be a good idea to hire one more person. Having a little extra manpower would create a more comfortable working environment. I should consider posting another job listing depending on the situation.

“Tetsuya-san, good afternoon. It’s been a while.”

“Patrice-san, welcome.”

“Welcome!”

“Good afternoon. Oh, I see you’ve added a new staff member.”

“Yes, business has been good, so I decided to hire more help. Is there something you’re looking for today?”

“Actually, I’ve reviewed the water purifiers you mentioned before, and we’d like to place some in the Adventurers’ Guild. Would it be possible to meet with the Guild Master after your shop closes today?”

“Of course. Although, we don’t have a proper reception room here, so I’ll visit the guild. I was planning to drop off a batch of compasses anyway.”

“Understood. Sorry for the trouble, and thank you in advance.”
