Ultimately, Ivy decided to take Rey under her wing.

However, Rey herself seemed to be quite busy and only visited occasionally. When she did come, Ivy trained her, helping her sharpen her skills.

Sometimes, I would step in to spar with Rey as well. This gave me valuable experience fighting someone strong, something I hadn’t done much of before.

Ivy, on the other hand, outright refused to fight me. Once, we tried sparring, but when her magic inflicted a small cut on me, she panicked and burst into tears.

She’s just that kind-hearted.

Some might argue that real kindness would mean toughening up and training me seriously, but I don’t agree.

Ivy’s kindness is so pure it might seem excessive to some. She refuses to harm someone she cares about, even in training. Instead, she’s grown strong enough to ensure she never has to hurt her loved ones, no matter the situation.

Incidentally, unlike Ivy, I’m terrible at holding back, so I tend to defeat Rey in an instant.

Ivy says the time Rey lasts in battle is gradually increasing, but from my perspective, it’s too subtle to notice.

Even if it feels like the fights end too quickly to count as real training, Rey seems to find it motivating. Apparently, aiming to beat me keeps her focused and driven.

It turns out Ivy has a knack for mentoring and guiding others. Seeing her in this new role makes me genuinely happy.

I don’t know what Ivy’s long-term plans are, but for now, I stick to fighting with my full effort. Not that I’m skilled enough to hold back, anyway.

After a day of training, Rey usually stays over at our house for the night. She and Ivy have a quiet girls’ night, chatting until morning before Rey heads home.

It feels less like a strict master-disciple relationship and more like a friend visiting for fun. But as long as they’re happy, it’s not my place to interfere.

One day, amidst this routine, we had another visitor.

It was a summons—one we’d put off for too long. Despite intending to report about Rey to the Marquis, life got in the way, and we forgot. Apparently, our silence had tested their patience, so Ivy and I were summoned to the Margrave of Endlord’s estate.

“…And that’s the gist of it.”

“Hmm, I see…”

The Margrave of Endlord furrowed his brow as he listened to my brief explanation, nodding thoughtfully.

Although Ivy had been summoned with me, she’d been whisked away by Katya. It seems Katya was upset about being neglected while Ivy trained Rey. With no room for negotiation, Ivy had to go smooth things over.

Meanwhile, I was left to handle the Margrave. Honestly, between the two, I might have drawn the short straw.

“We’ve even had Rey run errands for us recently,” I explained. “So we don’t go out as much these days.”

“Ah, yes, I’ve heard. Since Ivy’s staying in more, we’ve been able to shift things around on our end too.”

What exactly are they doing? I’m curious, but I also have a bad feeling about asking. It’s probably best not to poke the hornet’s nest.

While I pondered this, the Margrave seemed to be deep in thought, furrowing his brow further before turning to me.

“To be honest, I have a mountain of questions,” he began. “But for now, I’ll ask just one, Bruno.”

“Yes, of course. If it’s something I can answer…”

“That woman, Rey—what exactly is she?”

What she is? Well, Rey’s… a skilled adventurer, right?

Wait… she did mention before that she wasn’t officially registered as an adventurer, though she does take down powerful monsters. Maybe she’s more of a monster hunter?
