Update:

Hey guys,
As most of you probably know by now Disqus has stopped providing services to many sites and our site is one of them. Right now, we are in the middle of developing our independent comment system. As of today(26 March 2025), we are releasing the comment with Limited features. There are other features still under development and may take some time to roll out.

As always, please continue to support us. You can show your support in the following ways:

“Oh, what’s going on here?”

“Hey, isn’t this the shop where I bought that compass? Are they selling something new again?”

“That compass was super useful! Let’s check it out!”

This time, unlike before, the shop had gained some recognition. Since I’d already told yesterday’s customers about today’s new product launch, even more people had gathered compared to opening day.

“To everyone stopping by, I promise you won’t regret it! Today, we’re featuring the charming Fia as our special shop assistant!”

“P-please, nice to meet youuuu!”

“Alright, let’s give a big round of applause to our adorable assistant!”

Clap clap clap clap

“Eek…”

Although she fumbled her words a bit, it was endearing, and the customers responded warmly with applause.

“Now, onto the first product! Here’s a quick question for you: how do you use this lightweight, portable cylindrical object? Here’s a hint: you put one end in your mouth.”

Fia stood on the platform and lifted the water purifier so everyone could see, then demonstrated by placing her mouth on one end as if to drink through it.

“Alright, you, the rugged man with the beard over there! If you guess correctly, you’ll win this product for free!”

“Oh, me? Alright, let me take a shot! Hmm… I got it! It’s a blowgun with a powerful poison to take down any monster!”

“Yes, exactly! With this, you can take down any monster with a single shot of deadly poison… or not! Our shop prioritizes safety, so we don’t sell dangerous items like that.

“But I thought you might guess that. After all, it does look like a blowgun. However, that’s just its disguise! This is actually a water purifier—a magical tool that makes river and spring water safe to drink!”

“Whoa!”

“As you all probably know, drinking untreated water from rivers or springs can lead to upset stomachs or nausea. What’s that? You didn’t know? Don’t worry; I didn’t either until a few years ago! I used to think crystal-clear river water was safe to drink straight.”

“Haha, that’s a bit of an exaggeration!”

“Great pitch, brother!”

…It’s not an exaggeration, though. As a city kid, I honestly believed clean-looking river water was fine to drink until I started camping and learned otherwise. Apparently, this is common knowledge in this world.

“This slim tube contains special filters that remove impurities and bacteria, making water from rivers, springs, or even rainwater safer to drink. You can drink directly from a river or collect water in a bottle and use this purifier—both work just fine.

“I tested it myself a few days ago, and as you can see, I’m perfectly healthy! This tool is a lifesaver in emergencies when you run out of water in the forest and have to rely on natural sources.”

“Wow, that’s handy!”

“There have been times when I had to turn back on a quest because I ran out of water.”

“Yeah, it’s small enough to carry, and it could be a lifesaver in a pinch.”

“And this amazing water purifier is available for just three silver coins!”

“Whoa!”

The shop price was two silver coins, so I made one coin in profit per unit. I could sell it for more, but like the compass, this product increases adventurers’ survival rates. I wanted to keep it affordable, even for beginners.

“What’s that? You’re wondering if it’s okay to sell such an amazing tool so cheaply? Well, our shop supports up-and-coming adventurers! If you want to show your gratitude, I plan to open a larger shop soon, so please continue to support us then!”

“Way to go, brother!”

“You’ve got my support!”

I made sure to promote the future store as well.

“Thank you! But like the compass, there are some caveats. The filter degrades over time, so it has a usage limit of about 300 times.

“Also, it doesn’t completely remove all impurities or pathogens, so it won’t purify heavily polluted water. Think of it as a tool to make water safer to drink—not guaranteed perfectly safe. Please use it with care.”

In short, it’s a tool to improve safety, but not an absolute guarantee. While I hadn’t faced issues, I couldn’t promise the same for everyone else. You never know what kind of complainers might show up, so it’s best to be clear upfront.

“Well, there’s bound to be limits.”

“The compass and carabiners were great, so I trust this shop.”

Thanks to the reputation of the compass, the shop had earned some trust. If this had been my first product, it might not have sold as well.

“Thank you for understanding. And lastly, the purifier Fia just demonstrated is not for sale—even if you offer 100 gold coins!”

“Huh?!”

“Haha, what a shame.”

“Too bad. I wanted the one Fia used!”

“Eek!”

Fia turned bright red, flustered by the playful teasing. The customers certainly knew how to enjoy themselves.
