Vroom!
The moment the engine started, the characteristic vibrations of an internal combustion engine were transmitted straight through.
At last, the day of the trip had arrived.
The destination was Seolli Beach, located in Namhae.
After entering the destination into the navigation system, the total distance appeared—just under 400 km.
The estimated travel time was 4 hours and 52 minutes, but it would likely take longer. There would be stops at rest areas and checkpoints along the way.
As Seo-woo and Yeon-jun hadn’t arrived yet, Seo-jun turned on the air conditioning for them and waited. The first to come out was Park Yeon, his lips jutting out in a pout.
“I told you, let’s just use teleportation.”
“And how exactly are you planning to explain that to Yeon-jun?”
“I’ll just say it’s a scroll. They sell scrolls here too, you know.”
“Are you even aware that those scrolls cost tens of millions of won?”
“I could just say I got it at a bargain price…”
“Yeah, I’m sure he’d believe that. Besides, weren’t you the one who kept saying you wanted to ride in a car? This is your chance.”
“I was talking about a real car, not some toy like this. I wanted something macho, like a Jeep.”
Seo-jun smirked.
Park Yeon’s obsession with Jeeps came from a drama. Specifically, a scene where the male protagonist drove a Jeep across the Sahara Desert.
Just the word "trip" itself was enough to make anyone excited.
Seo-jun was no exception. Seeing Park Yeon about to get into the car, a playful urge welled up in him.
“You have to take your shoes off before getting in.”
“What?”
“That’s just how it is. You take your shoes off before getting in a car.”
“They don’t do that in dramas.”
“Of course not. If the protagonists in a drama took their shoes off before getting in, it wouldn’t look cool.”
“Ah… that makes sense.”
Nodding in understanding, Park Yeon neatly took off his shoes and climbed into the front seat.
Seo-jun barely managed to suppress his laughter.
Whether he noticed or not—
Park Yeon clasped his hands together and pressed his face against the window.
“From the outside, it’s hard to see in, but from inside, the outside is so clear.”
“That’s because I cast a spell on the car.”
“A spell? What kind of spell?”
“A tinting spell.”
“There’s a spell like that?”
“I created it myself.”
“Tch. Acting all smug over something like that.”
Although he snorted, inwardly, Park Yeon was deeply impressed.
‘To be able to create a spell this refined…’
He imagined it.
If he were to create this so-called tinting spell himself—
He could probably make it so the outside couldn’t see in. But in that case, the inside wouldn’t be able to see out either.
But the Demon King’s tinting spell was different.
From the outside, it was impossible to see in, yet from the inside, everything was perfectly visible.
This was an incredibly sophisticated level of spell creation.
‘There’s a reason he’s called the Demon God.’
He didn’t want to admit it, but he had no choice.
Creating a brand-new spell was considered the domain of the gods.
And if it was this refined, then the title of Demon God was certainly well deserved.
As Park Yeon sat there, nodding seriously with admiration, Seo-jun suddenly activated the windshield washer fluid.
Whooosh!
“Gwaahh!”
Startled by the sudden downpour of washer fluid, Park Yeon let out a shriek.
Seo-jun burst out laughing, and Park Yeon, trying to maintain his composure, casually wiped his face.
“Is this another new spell you created?”
“That’s right. It’s called the washer fluid spell.”
“What a pointless thing to invent.”
Despite his words, Park Yeon smirked inwardly. This washer fluid spell—he was confident he could create something similar himself.
Meanwhile, Yeon-jun, Seo-woo, and Doo-shik came out carrying their luggage.
And so, the five of them—
Clank, clank, clank!
Correction, the five of them and one Hellhound—set off for Namhae, hearts filled with excitement.
The journey took just under six hours.
There had been a slight delay at a checkpoint due to Doo-shik’s identification issues, but Seo-jun had managed to resolve the situation with his illusion magic.
The salty scent of the sea was growing stronger. That meant they were getting close.
And then, finally, the emerald-colored ocean came into view.
“Wooooow!”
“Whoooaaa!”
For two of them, this was their first time seeing the ocean.
Seo-woo and Doo-shik gasped in awe.
“Dad! Look over there! So much sand! It’s amazing!”
“Seo-jun hyung, is that what they call waves? Or is it a Valhalla?”
Seo-jun and Yeon-jun burst into laughter at the same time.
Still, checking in came first.
The lodging was a pension located right across from the white sandy beach.
A middle-aged woman with a warm expression was watering the yard when she approached the car.
“You're Mr. Lee Seo-jun, who made the reservation, right?”
“Yes.”
“It must have been tiring coming all the way from Seoul. Welcome. You can park over there.”
After parking the car and unloading their luggage, the pension owner greeted them with a bright smile and guided them to their room.
“I just finished cleaning, so there might be a slight smell of bleach. I left the windows open, but since you have a child with you… it might be better to wait a bit before going in.”
Seo-jun pointed at Seo-woo, who was hopping from foot to foot.
“We were planning to drop off our luggage and head straight to the beach anyway.”
“That’s a relief. Ah… what time would you like the barbecue prepared?”
“Six o’clock should be fine.”
“Got it. I’ll have it ready by six. Have fun, and if you need anything, the management office is just over there, so feel free to stop by.”
“Thank you.”
Seo-jun started unloading the luggage from the trunk.
Since it was a round trip of over ten hours, they had planned for a two-night, three-day stay.
Because of that, they had quite a bit of luggage.
By the time they had taken out and organized their suitcases, drinks, meat for the barbecue, a watermelon, and other supplies, twenty minutes had already passed.
Seo-woo, eager to rush to the beach, used his tiny hands to help out.
As soon as they finished unpacking, Seo-woo and Doo-shik changed into their beachwear and dashed toward the ocean.
“Wow…”
They finally arrived at the sandy shore.
Seo-woo was completely mesmerized by the endlessly stretching white sand.
How is this possible?
How can sand be this fine?
Curious, he stepped on it, pressing his feet into the soft grains.
The texture was incredibly smooth.
Like pudding.
“Hehehe.”
While Seo-woo was captivated by the sand, Doo-shik was enthralled by the rolling waves.
Splash!
The waves crashed with a crisp sound.
Would it hurt if it hit him?
Curious, Doo-shik hesitantly dipped his foot into the seawater.
“Be careful.”
Just then, Seo-jun spoke up.
“Huh?”
“If your whole body gets submerged, your polymorph might wear off.”
“Ah! Understood!”
Doo-shik waited for the wave.
Splash!
The water crashed against his foot and dispersed.
It didn’t have overwhelming force, but the sensation was strange.
Watching this, Park Yeon clicked his tongue.
“An orc getting excited over something as trivial as waves… how utterly simple-minded.”
“I heard that heroes are even simpler than orcs.”
“What?”
“There’s this one hero I know who takes off his shoes before getting in a car. Isn’t that ridiculously simple-minded? Ah, maybe not simple—just plain stupid.”
“You…!”
Park Yeon trembled with rage.
This was all because of the Demon King.
If he hadn’t fallen for the Demon King’s tricks, he wouldn’t be getting teased by an orc who was amazed by waves.
But his anger didn’t last long.
Perhaps it was the refreshing sea breeze, but his frustration washed away as quickly as it had come.
“Demon King, I will let this insult slide for today. But if this happens again, I will personally take you down. Remember that!”
“Hah! How dare a mere hero speak so insolently!”
Crack!
“Stay out of this, you worthless orc!”
“Worthless?”
“Heh. Now that I think about it, you’re not even worth a punch—you’d blow away with a single breath.”
“And you think you’re any better? With that scrawny build, how can you even call yourself a hero…?”
“Hmph. Of course an ignorant, muscle-brained orc wouldn’t understand. This is what we call lean muscle—the kind that captures a woman’s heart…”
“You got that from a drama, didn’t you?”
Flinch!
“I knew it. Since coming to Earth, it seems you’ve changed your god to someone more fitting. A god of fools.”
“That’s blasphemy!”
“No, you are the real blasphemy!”
“Take that back!”
“You take it back first!”
Seo-jun chuckled at their argument.
To an outsider like him, it just sounded like a conversation between close friends. Yeon-jun seemed to think the same.
“They really must be cousins.”
“What do you mean?”
“Just look at how comfortably they talk to each other.”
“That’s true.”
“But what’s with Park Yeon constantly calling things blasphemy? Even Doo-shik suddenly started going on about it.”
“Who knows.”
Seo-jun simply laughed in response.
Kim I-seul, who ran a leisure rental business at Seolli Beach, found herself sneaking glances at a customer’s body in admiration.
‘How can a body be that perfect?’
It was so toned that it looked like it had almost no body fat.
It had been three years since she took over the business after her father passed away.
And in all those three years, she had never seen a customer like this.
Occasionally, guild members would visit as a group, but even their bodies weren’t on this level.
“...Excuse me?”
Maybe that’s why.
She completely forgot that the person she was staring at was a customer.
“Huh?”
“Do you have one for children?”
“Children’s abs?”
“Abs?”
Kim I-seul immediately realized her slip of the tongue.
“Ah… No, I mean, children’s life vests and snorkeling gear?”
“Yes.”
“We do. Just a moment.”
As she brought over the life vest and gear, she clicked her tongue in disappointment.
‘So he has a child.’
Which meant he probably had a wife.
Just then—
“Uncle.”
“Hm?”
“How do you do this?”
“This… Hmm. You should go ask your big uncle about this.”
“Why?”
“Because… I need to talk with this lady.”
“Okay!”
Uncle?
A spark of hope ignited.
But even with that hope, Kim I-seul hesitated. He was still a customer.
‘But if he doesn’t have a wife or a girlfriend, wouldn’t it be fine? It’s not like it’s a crime…’
Normally, Kim I-seul wouldn’t have made such justifications—or rather, she wouldn’t have even entertained such thoughts about a customer in the first place.
She had always drawn a firm line whenever young male customers asked for her number or inquired about her relationship status.
But today, for some reason, she found herself rationalizing.
‘Besides, men and women don’t have to be just lovers, right? They can be friends too.’
Having finished convincing herself, Kim I-seul casually asked,
“So, did you come here with family?”
“Yes.”
“I don’t see any wives around, so I guess they’re all back at the lodging?”
“Wives? I am a man who has upheld chastity. Of course, I have no wife.”
Flinch!
His blunt statement made Kim I-seul stiffen for a moment. But his expression was utterly serious.
‘Ah, he must be Catholic.’
She had heard that some devout believers took vows like that. In that case, it was actually a relief.
“Here you go.”
“Must I wear this?”
“Yes.”
“Hmm. How do I put it on?”
Kim I-seul’s eyes gleamed.
Normally, when asked such a question, she would just explain it verbally and leave it at that. But she wanted to send an unspoken signal.
So, as she helped him put on the life vest, she made sure to brush his shoulders a few times. When there was no reaction, she went for slightly more deliberate touches.
But he remained silent.
He simply smiled as he watched his nephew walking along the beach in the distance.
‘He’s really dense…’
Well, he did say he was single since birth.
Even if now wasn’t the right time, she still had plenty of chances while he was snorkeling.
She’d aim for that moment.
