Update:

Hey guys,
As most of you probably know by now Disqus has stopped providing services to many sites and our site is one of them. Right now, we are in the middle of developing our independent comment system. As of today(26 March 2025), we are releasing the comment with Limited features. There are other features still under development and may take some time to roll out.

As always, please continue to support us. You can show your support in the following ways:

By the time I realized it, it was already past noon, but at the very least, we needed to register the magical beast first. So, we immediately proceeded with the registration.

"Alright, what name should we register it under?"

Since the guild's internal records would list it as Frozvitnir, the guild master himself was handling the registration process.

That being said, a name, huh…? It would indeed be inconvenient not to have something to call it.

"Do you have any good name ideas?"

"Hmm… Since you're the one who tamed it, you should be the one to name it, right?"

I asked Rio, but she immediately rejected the idea. Well, when she puts it that way, it makes sense.

But a name… Looking closely, its fluffy white fur shimmered with iridescent hues depending on the light.

"Rainbow…? No, that doesn't feel right."

As I stroked its head and neck, it squinted its eyes in contentment.

"Alright, I'll take it from its species name and call it 'Nir.'"

"Wafuu!"

It was a simple choice, but when in doubt, keeping it straightforward was best. At least it didn’t seem to dislike it.

"Got it. I'll register it as 'Nir' then."

After paying the 1,000-flon registration fee, the process was complete. A tag was attached to Nir's neck as proof of being a registered tamed beast, allowing us to walk freely with it in town.

"The tag is also a magical tool that automatically adjusts its size. If you need a replacement, it'll cost 20,000 flon, so be careful."

With the registration done, it was time for lunch.

We had our meal at the tavern adjacent to the guild before moving on to deliver the Silver Wolf. By the way, Nir ate the food just like us—lots of it. Securing enough food for it would be a challenge. I could feel Nir's overwhelming sentiment of "Delicious!" echoing in my mind.

Rio retrieved a four-meter Silver Wolf from her dimensional storage, and under the pretense that we transported it on behalf of Fang of the Sky Wolf, we sold it to the guild. Naturally, we exaggerated the story, claiming this was the massive wolf that had appeared in the forest.

"I guess this wraps up the whole incident."

"Indeed… But are you sure we can really take this Silver Wolf?"

Now that everything had settled, Wyatt hesitantly asked for confirmation.

"If they're giving it to us, why not take it?"

"At this size, it should fetch a fair price…"

Half the group seemed reluctant, while the other half was eager to accept it.

"Consider it a token of appreciation for keeping certain things quiet. It’s no problem."

"We're not in need of money, so it's fine."

"Haha… Well, with the strength to tame something like that, I guess that makes sense. Alright, we should be heading out soon."

"Ah, I see. Thank you for everything."

"No, no, we should be thanking you. That thing was beyond our ability to handle."

Glancing at Frozvitnir, who remained in its small form, Wyatt shrugged.

"See you around."

With that, the members of Fang of the Sky Wolf waved as they left.

"Now then, Shu and Rio, I still need to hear the details from you two."

However, we weren’t off the hook just yet. The guild master promptly dragged us into a private room once more.

"Finally… it's over."

"That was long…"

By the time we were finally released, it was already late afternoon.

They had asked about various things, but of course, we kept certain details to ourselves. Naturally, we didn’t mention how we destroyed the royal castle of the Arclight Kingdom. However, when we talked about living in the Demon Forest for a while, they were quite shocked.

We also managed to gather information about the city and the surrounding magical beasts, so it wasn’t a total waste. Plus, the guild master used his authority to promote us to D-rank. Apparently, since we had never taken on a guard mission before, we couldn’t be raised to C-rank yet. So, it was a reluctant D-rank promotion.

"Alright, let’s go report to Fleur about the request."

Leaving the guild, we walked towards the Rashiyu Trading Company. With Nir tagging along, I felt more gazes on us than usual. It seemed that adventurers with tamed beasts were rare, considering we hadn’t seen many even in the cities we passed through.

"Hello! Is Fleur here?"

Upon arriving at the trading company, we immediately spoke to the clerk tending the shop.

"Yes…!?"

They responded, but as soon as they lifted their gaze and saw Nir, they took a step back.

"…My apologies. May I ask for your name?"

"Shu. We’re here to deliver the requested lumber."

"Understood. Please wait a moment."

To their credit, they quickly regained composure. As expected of an employee of one of the Six Great Trading Companies… or at least, that’s how it seemed.

"People sure do get startled, huh."

"Yeah."

"They’ll get used to it eventually."

"No, they won’t. The same thing will happen in the next city too."

"That’s not what I meant. I meant we’ll get used to people being surprised."

"Oh, that’s what you meant!?"

"Think about it—remember how people used to be shocked every time we pulled things out of the dimensional storage at the guild? But now, we don’t even think twice about it."

"Ah… well, when you put it that way."

Now that she mentioned it, I had to admit she was right. We had gotten used to it ourselves. Maybe that’s just how things go.

"Thank you for waiting. Please follow me to the warehouse."

Just as we were having that silly conversation, the clerk returned and guided us to the back of the store.

Apparently, it was a warehouse, which made sense since we were delivering lumber.

We had brought fifty meters of it, but… was there really a warehouse large enough to store that in the middle of the city? Turns out, there was.

"Lady Fleur, I have brought the guests."

At least they didn’t take us somewhere too small for the delivery. The clerk addressed someone inside the warehouse.

"Ah, thank you—!?"

As Fleur turned to face us, she reacted just like the clerk upon seeing Nir.
