Hello guys,
First of all, we would like to apologize for disappearing without notice. Some problem suddenly came up with the hosting service we
were using so we had to migrate our website. It took some time but we are finally up and running again. We will try to make sure
that this does not happen again.
Additionally, this sudden migration has put a strain on our finances, so we need your support more than ever. As for how you can support us, we have listed that below:
Once again, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused. We hope that you will continue to support us.
The next day, I head to school.
It seems Tsuyuhara and the others all showed up without taking a break. However, as promised yesterday, they completely avoided me. In fact, they wouldn’t even meet my gaze; when I accidentally bumped into Kitamura in the hallway, she screamed loudly and ran away. I feel like I may have gone a bit too far.
Only Isosaki, who had fainted when I used the intimidation skill, still glares at me whenever our eyes meet. However, it seems that Tsuyuhara has warned him not to approach me.
It was a hassle to explain my changes to the teachers of the subjects I missed yesterday, but it couldn’t be helped. The classes went smoothly without any issues. Today, the group of Tsuyuhara, the king of the “real-life is good” crowd, was unusually quiet. As long as they keep the two promises I made yesterday, I won’t do anything to them.
Despite broadening the range, I didn’t receive any alerts from my danger-sensing skill today. Well, when you think about it, life-threatening dangers don’t happen so easily.
Once I got home, I locked my room. I planned to be home before my mother returned, but just in case I was late, I left a note on the living room table stating that I was staying at a friend’s house. With that, even if I did come home late, I wouldn’t be reported to the police.
"Alright, let’s go!"
When I opened the ceiling hatch, the door to the other world was still connected. As I slowly passed through, it led to the same room I entered before. In the next room, the bookshelf was toppled over, and books were scattered everywhere, with the floor dented.
"Right, I left this a mess when I came back last time. I should probably clean up first."
I returned the bookshelf and books to their places and used earth magic to fix the dented floor. With the great magus's level inherited and my physical abilities significantly increased, I could easily lift the bookshelf with one hand.
I flipped through a few of the books as a test. Thanks to my language comprehension skill, I could read them in Japanese. I decided to take the books back to my original world and read them slowly.
"Now, let’s properly bury my benefactor."
When I was forced to activate the inheritance magic and endured excruciating pain, I wanted to beat him up. But ultimately, I received tremendous power, and I was able to put an end to the bullying. He changed my life, which I had intended to end, so I should give him a proper burial.
"Alright, this should do."
I buried the body behind the great magus's house and made a grave. I dug a pretty deep hole to bury the body and engraved the great magus's name on a Japanese-style tombstone I crafted from stone.
"The magic to open the door to the other world was a success. Please rest in peace. I truly appreciate the power you gave me; it has helped me immensely."
I clasped my hands together in front of the grave. I wanted to ensure he knew that the incredible magic he researched until his last moments had indeed succeeded. Since I built the grave right behind my house, I’ll be sure to visit regularly.
After collecting the equipment from the orc I defeated last time, I entered the storage room filled with the weapons, armor, and magical tools that the great magus had created as a hobby. The last time the orc appeared, I randomly chose weapons and armor from here. Today, I should start by checking what’s available.
"Still, it would be handy if there were some classic appraisal skills for otherworldly items."
As I examined each item in the storage, I thought about that. Among the skills and magic I inherited from the great magus, there weren’t any particularly convenient ones like that.
Curious about whether there might be a status screen, I tried chanting, "Status window, open!" but nothing happened. I was eager to know my level and status, but I felt pretty embarrassed when nothing occurred after saying that.
"Still, it’s nice to have a storage magic that serves as a classic item box."
I began using storage magic to store the weapons, armor, and magical tools I had verified. As expected from the great magus’s magic, it seemed to have a considerable capacity.
Even so, I didn’t know much about its performance, so I was just storing things randomly. There might be a chance that the performance is written in a book left by the great magus, so I’ll check them out little by little.
...I can't shake the feeling that I'm like a thief stealing the possessions of someone who has passed away, but since I got permission from him, I shouldn’t worry about that.
"...Hmm? There's a reaction from the danger-sensing skill again."
Just like the last time with the orc, I felt that someone was approaching this house. By the way, I had turned off the danger-sensing skill when I returned to the original world. It was pointless to keep it activated with so many people around.
"This time, it doesn’t feel like a person at least. I’ll peek from the shadows of the house just like last time."
Since the previous orc had a human shape, there was a possibility it was human, but this time, it doesn’t seem to have a human form. I can tell that whatever it is, it’s much smaller than the previous orc. I equipped the weapons and armor I had used last time and peeked from the shadows of the house.
"Is there only this kind of dangerous creature around here...?"
In front of the fence of the house stood a monster; it was a slime, a creature commonly found in games from my original world.
When you think of slimes, the strong impression is of the weak monsters you encounter near the first village.
However, the slime that appeared in front of this house was anything but a typical one. It wasn’t blue; instead, it had a dark, ominous color, and most notably, it was huge. It had to be an advanced type like a slime king or slime emperor. Unlike the previous orc, it wasn’t wearing any armor or wielding a great sword this time.
Just like the previous orc, it seems unable to proceed beyond the barrier in front of the fence but was attempting to break it down. Is there something about this house that attracts monsters? Given that monsters come here so frequently, it’s likely that the strength of the barrier is remarkable.
"Still, leaving it alone isn’t a good idea..."
I didn’t feel great about ignoring a dangerous monster right in front of me. Also, there’s no guarantee that the barrier won’t break. Considering that, it’s probably best to eliminate it if I can.
Last time, I overkilled it with an advanced lightning magic. This time, I’ll try an intermediate spell.
"Fire Wall!"
Suddenly, a column of fire erupted from underneath the slime. The intermediate fire magic, Fire Wall, creates a wall of flames, and if activated at an enemy’s feet, it incinerates them.
"That’s some impressive power for just one attack."
Without letting out a scream, the slime was reduced to a charred mess. It took some time, but for a monster of this level, intermediate magic seems to be the appropriate firepower. However, the magic from the great magus is terrifying. This was a monster that looked so formidable, yet it went down to just one intermediate spell.
"Alright, I think I’ll wrap it up for today."
It had already been about three or four hours since I came here. I should head back and prepare dinner soon. For a while, I might continue this routine of going to school and then heading back to the other world. Once I get home, I’ll read the books I brought from the great magus's house. On weekends, I might take a little trip somewhere.
