[Juvenile (Lawless) Delinquents, Police Station Attack, One Officer Injured]
- Amid growing controversy over a viral post titled [Gangjin Police Beating a Fourteen-Year-Old] on the popular community site ○○, the police have released the relevant footage. The truth was utterly shocking.
- "Smash it all!!"
- "F*ck! I told you not to call! Are you ignoring me, you pig cops!!"
- "What?! We're juveniles, f*ckers! Come any closer and we’ll kill you all! Even if we kill you, we only get two years!"
The released footage showed Lee Jang-guk and his friends destroying a patrol car and striking Shin Haesu on the head with a metal pipe.
- mut: Is this for real? Living long enough, I’ve now seen 14-year-olds storm a police station and wreck a patrol car. What is this, Harlem?
- sanbaram: Get rid of the juvenile law.
- tjdal284: They’re insane. Lock those bastards up for life—no, just execute them. No need to waste taxes.
- matchfighter_honorarychief: Wasn’t the one who got hit in the head Detective Shin? How dare they!
- matchfighter_member: Can’t believe this is being let go. As expected, Detective Shin is pure light.
Then, to quell the backlash, a second video was uploaded showing Haru subduing the delinquents.
Though slightly excessive, it was meant to show that it wasn’t assault.
- beartrainer: ?!
- myenemyisme: Insane
- jeaHyuk: That’s badass
- taeagun: Is this a movie?
- channel0: She’s flying around
- miraclee: Even covered up, her figure shows through. Gorgeous female officer? Yes please.
┗ returntofarming: You can see her face?
┗ miraclee: Can’t you just tell? She gives off total goddess vibes.
- neighbor'sdog: That’s excessive force.
┗ taeagun: Idiot, if your mom got her head bashed in, would you still call it excessive force?
┗ myenemyisme: Living up to your name.
- cabbagedragon: She breaks them even when they’re just standing still?
The video made Haru a hot topic more for her looks than the incident itself.
There were also occasional posts criticizing her for excessive force or being too harsh on minors.
While the headquarters watched public opinion with serious faces, Haesu looked grim. Haru approached him.
“Is the police in trouble because of me?”
“No, nothing’s wrong. Just do your work.”
“Understood.”
Just then, the team leader and Oh Gaeng returned from grabbing fish cakes across the street.
“It’s chaos outside. Reporters everywhere. They love bashing the police. They’re looking for you and Officer Ha all over, Haesu.”
At those words, Haesu shot up from his seat.
“May I step out for a bit?”
“Ah, you know some reporters, right? Sure, go clear things up.”
Haesu gave Haru a glance and left the HQ. Haru quickly followed behind him.
The muscle-bound rookie looked at them longingly as they left.
“Oh, there he is!”
“Detective Shin!! Over here, please!”
“The female officer is here too!!”
Haesu surveyed the reporters gathered at the entrance of the police station. About half were familiar faces.
“Everyone, follow me. We’ll take questions in the auditorium.”
“Waaa!”
“As expected of Detective Shin!”
It was the same auditorium where Haesu had once held a press conference before.
Standing beside Haru, Haesu faced the reporters.
“The investigation is ongoing, so I can't share much. I’ll take questions now.”
“Is your head okay? Have you been diagnosed or had a CT scan?”
“It seems like you intentionally took the hit from the pipe. Is that true?”
“There are claims you did it to justify the suppression. Can you comment?”
“I didn’t expect a fourteen-year-old to swing a metal pipe at someone’s head. It was my mistake to let my guard down. No brain damage. Seven stitches on my head. Maybe my skull’s thick.”
Some chuckles rose at Haesu’s reply.
“Is Officer Ha new to the force? May we interview her as well?”
Reporters already knew Haru’s name and rank from the police website.
At the question, Haesu turned to Haru, who nodded.
As they traded places, Haesu quietly whispered to her, only she could hear:
“You don’t have to answer anything you don’t want to. I’ll take over if needed.”
“Okay.”
Haru wore a black mask that completely covered her face.
“I’ll take questions.”
“Do you have a boyfriend?!”
“You.”
“W-what?”
“The suppression in the video seemed quite aggressive. Do you harbor hatred toward juvenile offenders?”
“Standard procedure. I don’t let things I hate stay alive.”
“Is that a murder threat from a current officer?”
Haru didn’t reply but stared at the reporter with eyes full of disdain.
“Why did you subdue the boys who weren’t attacking? Isn’t that excessive force?”
“It was not excessive. Next question.”
Haru continued the interview calmly, her eyes unwavering no matter the question.
Then, the reporter who mentioned a murder threat raised his hand again.
“There’s a lot of interest in Officer Ha since the video. May I ask your body measurements?”
The auditorium instantly froze. Haru immediately snapped back with a sharp tone.
“Same as your mom’s.”
“W-what did you say?”
Other reporters immediately turned on the inappropriate questioner.
“Keep it appropriate. Why are you suddenly asking a cop about her measurements? That’s exactly why people call you gutter press.”
“Didn’t you ask if she had a boyfriend?”
“That’s not the same! Can’t attract clicks without sleaze, huh? Just quit being a journalist.”
“What did you just say?!”
As voices started to rise, Haesu slammed the podium with his palm.
THUD!
The thunderous sound startled everyone, and attention snapped to Haesu. He scowled and spoke in a low voice.
“Are you seriously fighting in front of the police?”
Even hardened gangsters cower before Haesu and can’t meet his eyes. No ordinary reporter could possibly withstand his presence.
The reporters all felt that intense pressure and fell silent like scolded children.
“We’re sorry.”
“That’s all for the interview. Please leave.”
Haesu gathered Haru, and the reporters exited the auditorium without protest.
As they escorted the press out, another scene awaited them at the station’s entrance—a loud group with red headbands and megaphones yelling slogans.
- "Violent police! Step down, step down!"
- "Resign!!"
At a glance, they were thugs with tattoos all over. About a dozen of them, led by none other than Lee Jang-guk’s father, Lee Giwang.
The videos were now all over the community sites, and public opinion was beginning to shift. Knowing he couldn’t win legally, Lee Giwang chose to harass them this way. He had no interest in his son going to juvenile detention—he only cared about wringing out a settlement.
-Hey, here come the violent police! Violent police, resign! Resign!!
-Resign! Ugh, spit!
Haesu frowned deeply as he looked at them. He felt he needed to push the case forward quickly, even if it meant pulling strings, and put an end to the commotion.
Just then, the youngest member rushed over.
“Senior! Senior, please take a look at this.”
“What is it?”
The youngest played a video on his phone. It was a video by a famous YouTuber.
Haru peeked her face between Haesu and the youngest to check the phone.
[Violent Police? Nah, Violent Father]
-Received extensive information from an anonymous source. It’s based on facts and comes with evidence, so take note.
The father of juvenile delinquent Lee Jang-guk, who was subdued after smashing a patrol car, has 9 prior convictions for violent crimes. We were fooled by the victim cosplay.
We were shocked to learn that the 14-year-old Lee Jang-guk had 15 prior offenses, but in truth, crime ran in the family. His father, Lee Gi-wang, has 9 violent priors.
(Photo of Lee Gi-wang. Tattoo zoom-in)
-Lee Jang-guk had been reported to the police four times for domestic violence since he was five. Lee Gi-wang had been beating him since he was little. His wife didn’t cheat—she ran away from the beatings. This is the evidence.
(Photo of abused wife)(Video taken by wife of the beating)
-These videos and photos were collected by the wife to report Lee Gi-wang, but she never went through with it out of fear of retaliation.
On the day of the incident, Lee Gi-wang dragged his son Jang-guk from the hospital to the police station and demanded settlement money. Money was more important than his son's wellbeing.
Let’s stop blindly trusting biased community posts. It’s infuriating to know we were fooled by that tattooed pig.
“Hmm...”
Haesu was surprised, as some of the information could only have come from the police. Comments were already flooding in.
‘Who sent this tip... Could it be?’
Someone came to mind, but now wasn’t the time to verify it.
Haesu and Haru stared silently at Lee Gi-wang and his group, then turned and returned to headquarters. Not long after, the protesters, having seen the information, quickly dispersed.
The revealed evidence wasn’t enough to arrest Lee Gi-wang immediately. But it was more than enough to sway public opinion.
-Miracree: Where the hell are all the people who said he was pitiful? Detective Ha, you’re the best.
-RuralLife: Creepy as hell. I can’t believe that tattooed pig wrote those posts. I totally fell for it.
-ImStrongerThanU: I’m friends with Lee Jang-guk. He still gets beat up all the time. What you saw was mild. Sometimes it looks like Lee Gi-wang wants to kill him. Jang-guk is just a victim.
┗Welcome, Jang-guk
┗Jang-guk, that doesn’t mean you can go around bashing cops’ heads, okay?
┗See you in juvie for 2 years, Jang-guk
Bang!
Lee Jang-guk scowled and threw his phone at the wall.
“Those fucking bastards, how do they know?!”
Clunk—
Just then, the front door burst open and Lee Gi-wang entered. Jang-guk instinctively shrank back.
“Hey.”
“Y-yes, Father.”
“Go get that bitch Haru or whoever she is and bring back the settlement money.”
“Ah, I-I’m not sure how to...”
“Look at my Jang-guk, all grown up now, talking back and everything.”
“No, no, I’ll go.”
As Jang-guk stood up to pick up the phone from the floor, Lee Gi-wang snatched it away and checked it. Jang-guk’s face turned pale.
“What’s this?”
“Ah, it’s nothing!”
“Shut up and stay still.”
Lee Gi-wang quickly found the comment Jang-guk had written.
“Did you write this?”
“Huh? No.”
“If you didn’t write it, can you delete it?”
“Uh, that’s...”
Seeing the murderous glint in Lee Gi-wang’s eyes, Jang-guk took a step back.
“Look at you, you ungrateful little shit. After raising you without a mom, this is how you repay me? What? You think I’m trying to kill you? Fine, let’s see you die today, you bastard!”
Crash!
Violent Crimes Special Investigation Unit headquarters.
As soon as the youngest hung up the extension phone, he shouted.
“Lee Jang-guk just reported his dad, Lee Gi-wang! For domestic violence!”
“Whoa, where is he now?”
“Daeseong Hospital ER!”
The team leader stood up and pointed at the youngest.
“Youngest—no, Woo Kang-chul—no, just stay the youngest forever.”
“Huh? But by age, looks, and rank—”
The team leader ignored him and continued.
“Youngest, and Officer Ha, go check on Lee Jang-guk.”
Haru stood up quickly and grabbed her coat. She moved swiftly, like a rookie.
“Yes, sir!”
“Y-yes... Let’s go.”
The team leader had paired them up to build rapport. Keeping them together would naturally establish the hierarchy.
They couldn’t be paired in violent crime scenes anyway, so now was the time to bond.
“Oh Gaeng and Shin-dol—”
“Yes, we’ll go arrest Lee Gi-wang.”
Haesu and Oh Gaeng were already standing and ready to head out.
Lee Jang-guk had taken a taxi to the ER at Daeseong Hospital on his own. His condition was serious. His head, arm, and leg were bandaged, and blood was still seeping through the wraps.
Jang-guk stared at Haru, who had once broken his arm, and held out his phone.
“I didn’t get video, but I recorded it.”
Haru took his phone and played the audio file. Lee Gi-wang’s curses, Jang-guk’s screams, and the sounds of things being violently smashed echoed for several minutes.
Even just the audio made it easy to imagine the scene.
“Is this enough to put that bastard behind bars?”
The youngest nodded in place of Haru.
“Yeah.”
Meanwhile, at Lee Gi-wang’s home—
Bang, bang, bang!
“Police!”
“Mr. Lee Gi-wang, we know you're inside. Open the door before we break it down.”
Then, a faint voice came from inside.
-Break it down if you can, you bastards… ugh.
“We’re going in.”
Haesu immediately punched the digital door lock.
Bang, bang, crack!! Beep-beep—
The door lock was soon broken, and as the door opened, Oh Gaeng glanced at Haesu’s fist, puzzled.
“That guy should be charged with aggravated assault even with bare hands. Are those hands or weapons?”
Oh Gaeng clicked his tongue, relieved that Haesu was at least on the police force.
Inside, they found Lee Gi-wang leaning against the wall with a bottle of soju. His face was red, and his eyes half-closed.
Upon seeing Haesu, he widened his eyes and jumped up.
“You crazy bastards! Who said you could come in!!”
He swung the bottle upside down toward Haesu’s head.
Crash!
Haesu deflected it with his hand like slapping it aside, shattering the bottle, then grabbed Lee Gi-wang’s face and slammed it against the wall.
Thud!!
Right on cue, Oh Gaeng shoved a piece of paper into his face.
Haesu naturally followed up with the explanation.
“This is a warrant. Mr. Lee Gi-wang, you are under arrest for domestic violence. You have the right to an attorney and to defend yourself, but first—let me hit you one more time.”
“W-what?”
Bang!!
