Hey guys,
As most of you probably know by now Disqus has stopped providing services to many sites and our site is one of them. Right now,
we are in the middle of developing our independent comment system. As of today(26 March 2025), we are releasing the comment with
Limited features. There are other features still under development and may take some time to roll out.
As always, please continue to support us. You can show your support in the following ways:
With Angel’s stalker issue successfully resolved, the outdoor shop's business is currently going smoothly.
The yokan and chocolate bars stored in preservation packs have been confirmed to remain edible for over two weeks without spoiling. With this in mind, I placed a bulk order with Gregor and reported the results to Rizac and Patrice from the Adventurers' Guild.
Once we get approval and can coordinate with Berna and Ferry, we’ll be able to sell these preserved yokan and chocolate bars in the royal capital and several towns along the way.
By the way, compasses and water purifiers have already been distributed to other Adventurers' Guild branches through a request we made to the guild.
Since these products are transported by carriage, the transportation costs make them more expensive than in Al-Flare. However, given how low the cost of living is here, it should balance out.
Of course, due to limited production capabilities, the initial distribution volume will be kept low. Unlike the preserved food items aimed at improving adventurers' survival rates, yokan and chocolate bars are more of a luxury, so they will be stocked in even smaller quantities.
There are already shops selling sweets in other towns and the capital, so we aim to sell our products without significantly impacting their businesses. Additionally, the time required to clean and sterilize the preservation packs makes it difficult to produce in large volumes.
Even with the daily workload of washing wooden tubes for instant soup and nutrition bars, we are already stretched thin. When we start selling yokan and chocolate bars, I might consider hiring part-time help just for washing duties.
"Thank you very much for visiting our store so early in the morning today."
As usual, we had taken a break on the weekend, so the first day back always sees more customers than usual. That’s why we introduce new products at the start of the week.
"Before we open the store, I’d like to explain a new product we’re launching today."
Like the waterproof backpack we introduced previously, we didn’t announce this product in advance. That’s because I’m not sure how much demand there will be.
For items with guaranteed demand, advance notice is useful, but for uncertain ones, it’s better to introduce them without prior advertising.
Speaking of the waterproof backpack, it hasn’t been flying off the shelves, but sales have been steadily increasing through word of mouth. Many adventurers seem to be buying it as a replacement for their worn-out backpacks.
Although it's slightly more expensive than standard backpacks, those looking for a new one prefer ours since it’s waterproof and useful in the rain.
"The product we are introducing today is this—an insect repellent gel!"
I opened the lid of a small wooden tube, revealing the gel-like substance inside for the customers to see.
"...Insect repellent? Does that mean bugs in the forest won’t come near us?"
"Yes. This gel contains ingredients that insects dislike. When applied to the skin, it makes it harder for them to approach for a certain period."
"Ooooh!"
This product became available when my outdoor shop skill reached level 4.
Other items like traditional insect repellent sprays and mosquito coils also became purchasable, but the spray mechanism seemed too advanced for this world.
Mosquito coils work well when setting up a tent for camping, but in Al-Flare, where most adventurers are beginners, outdoor camping isn’t common. That’s why I chose a gel-type repellent, which is more practical for use in forests.
"This product is priced at three silver coins. If you're tired of being bitten by insects in the forest, this insect repellent gel is just what you need!"
The gel costs one silver coin to purchase, and as usual, we reuse the small wooden tubes, making our profit one silver coin per unit.
"That forest does have a lot of bugs, so this would be really helpful."
"But three silver coins... I don’t know, it’s a bit expensive."
Indeed, while keeping insects away is convenient, three silver coins isn't exactly cheap for beginner adventurers. Some might just endure the bites rather than spending the money. As such, I expect sales will mainly come from wealthier adventurers or those who truly hate bugs.
For effectiveness testing, I had both Lange and Dolph try the gel in the forest to see if it reduced the number of insects around them.
It turns out that the gel works on the insects of this world as well. Fortunately, it doesn’t have the unintended effect of repelling monsters. I was a bit worried it might keep away magical creatures too, but thankfully, it didn’t.
"For detailed instructions, please read the information inside the store before use."
Insect repellent gel isn’t as toxic as insecticides, so it’s not dangerous if accidentally ingested. However, it may cause skin irritation, and it’s not recommended for young children with sensitive skin. These warnings are clearly stated on the product.
Additionally, the gel doesn’t work on all types of insects. Customers are advised to use it at their own discretion.
